Overview
The Material QC Inspector will be part of an inspection team that performs duties for inspecting line pipe, fittings, valves, or related components as it relates to the pipeline industry in a manufacturing environment or field environment. Inspectors will be responsible for performing visual inspection and taking dimensional inspection readings as well as recording them daily. Inspections by the inspector may be performed on bare or coated material. Inspector must be able to inspect pipe on OD and ID surface.
Material QC Inspector will need to be able to comprehend API, ASME, and ANSI Specifications, Client Specifications, Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), Manufacturing Procedure Specifications and be able to apply them to the material or product being inspected.
Responsibilities
- Visual, dimensional, and ovality inspection
- Inspection of documentation, bill received, and validate quantities
- Verification/validation of Material Test Reports (MTRs)
- Validate material against set company standards
- Quarantine material which does not meet set criteria and issue NCR
- Material traceability
- Stenciling and marking Preservation, packing and shipping
- Daily reporting and production schedule monitoring
Qualifications
- 3 years9 experience required in related field of piping, fittings, or valve components
- Must be local to the Los Angeles, CA area.
- Have fundamental knowledge of API 5L and ANSI related material.
- Must be able to pass a drug test and background check.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must possess a High School diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must possess a valid driver9s license.
Desired:
- 5+ years9 experience required in related field of piping, fittings, or valve components
- Preferred one of the below:
- AWS CWI
- NACE/AMPP CIP Level 1
- Proficient with computers and portable electronic tablets and supporting software applications, such as Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of quality assurance terminology, methods, and tools.
- Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of testing best practices, version control practices and defect management practices.

Wage Data Per State Requirements
Hourly ratefor this position is $54.00 - $56.00. The starting rate will be commensurate with skill, education, experience, and working environment.

- Client testing facility (Daily)
- Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling and walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces.
- Lifting objects in excess of 50 pounds from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position.
- Ability to perform visual inspection of construction crew quality of work; using measuring devices; and/or assembly of fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
- Able to perform in both inside and outside environmental conditions in all four seasons throughout the continental United States.
- Ability to sense potentially dangerous situations on a construction site, including hearing heavy machinery and vehicle back-up alarms.
