Machining Department Technical Lead (Master Machinist)

Syracuse, NY | 1st Shift | $38-$50/hr

Sign On Bonus | Relocation available for well-qualified candidate

We are seeking a hands-on Machining Department Technical Lead with extensive experience on Davenport and/or Acme Gridley multi-spindle screw machines. This role will lead machining operations, troubleshoot complex manufacturing issues, optimize processes, and mentor machinists and operators.

Responsibilities
  • Lead setup, troubleshooting, repair, and optimization of Davenport and Acme Gridley machines
  • Develop machining processes, tooling strategies, and work instructions
  • Support production scheduling, quality, efficiency, and throughput goals
  • Train and mentor machinists, setup technicians, and operators
  • Drive continuous improvement, machine reliability, and preventive maintenance initiatives

Requirements
  • 10+ years of machining experience
  • 5+ years of hands-on Davenport and/or Acme Gridley multi-spindle screw machine experience (required)
  • Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills
  • Experience with micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, indicators, and thread gauges
  • Proven leadership, troubleshooting, and process improvement abilities

Preferred
  • CNC setup/programming experience
  • Lean manufacturing experience
  • Prior Lead Machinist, Technical Lead, or Supervisor experience
  • ERP/MRP system experience
