Responsibilities*

The University of Michigan School of Nursing (UMSN) invites distinguished nurse scientists to apply for the Mary Lou Willard French Endowed Chair. Appointment will be at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor with tenure, commensurate with the successful candidate's qualifications and experience. Candidates should demonstrate excellence in funded research, oncology nursing, interdisciplinary team science, and the mentorship of emerging investigators. They should also have a sustained record of scholarly productivity and impact, as well as experience integrating research and scholarship with teaching and service in undergraduate and/or graduate programs.

The recipient of the Mary Lou Willard French Endowed Chair will advance a nationally or internationally recognized program of research focused on nursing care for people living with cancer and their families. The recipient will have opportunities to collaborate closely with faculty across the UMSN, Michigan Medicine, and the University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center, as well as with national and international partners and funding organizations. Michigan Medicine and the Rogel Cancer Center offer an outstanding environment for interdisciplinary research, education, clinical innovation, and patient care, providing a strong foundation for scholarship that improves outcomes for the cancer population.

The successful candidate will advance oncology nursing science, lead interdisciplinary investigative teams, mentor the next generation of nurse scientists, and contribute to the school's education, leadership, and service missions.

Required Qualifications*

• Demonstrated expertise in oncology nursing
• Earned PhD in Nursing with scholarly credential commensurate with appointment at senior rank (Associate Professor or Professor)
• Current Michigan nursing license is required or eligibility for a nursing license in the State of Michigan
• Sustained record of first-authored and/or last-author, database, peer-reviewed publications, and presentations
• Excellent communication, networking, and relationship-building skills
• Sustained record of excellence in teaching, including mentoring experience with advanced students and early career faculty
• Sustained and growing record of scholarly eminence, which advances the frontier of knowledge
• A national, and preferably internationally, reputation for outstanding and continuing achievements in the field of oncology nursing
• A reputation, supported by documented external evaluation, which recognizes the presence of leadership and the quality of research activities, publications, and contributions to the profession in comparison with other professors
• A continuing record of recognized accomplishments in academic, professional and community service
• Prior to start date must be in compliance with all health requirements, including standard precautions such as Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, orientations, licenses/certifications, policies and procedures both internal and external to the University for your assigned classroom(s) and/or clinical site(s) and/or research site(s)
