We’re looking for a marketing professional who can lead participant engagement strategies from planning through execution, combining strong campaign management, cross-functional collaboration, and data-driven decision-making. This person will bring structure to recurring communications, improve the participant experience through personalized content, and help connect engagement efforts to broader marketing and business goals.


What We're Looking For
  • Experience leading multi-channel marketing or participant engagement programs from strategy through execution
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage timelines, stakeholders, approvals, and launch readiness for both recurring and ad hoc communications
  • Ability to develop content strategies and participant-facing experiences that improve engagement, relevance, and overall audience experience
  • Comfort working with participant data, including defining requirements, ensuring data quality, and resolving issues that impact campaign execution
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to use engagement data and audience insights to guide messaging, targeting, optimization, and performance measurement
  • Proven ability to collaborate across marketing, analytics, sales, and other partners to support business outcomes
  • Experience supporting personalized digital experiences, testing strategies, and journey-based communications

What You'll Do
  • Manage development and launch of a monthly participant newsletter, setting the content calendar and guiding creative execution from brief through delivery
  • Lead end-to-end execution of the participant engagement program, including campaign planning, creative development, compliance review, launch readiness, and timeline management for recurring and ad hoc communications
  • Oversee participant data processes by ensuring data quality, resolving issues, and defining requirements that support accurate, timely, and relevant campaign execution
  • Partner across marketing, analytics, and sales to support lead generation, lead scoring, reporting, and performance measurement tied to engagement and business outcomes
  • Use engagement data and audience insights to inform messaging, targeting, content strategy, and ongoing campaign optimization
  • Develop and refine participant-facing content and experiences, including newsletter, segmented messaging, testing strategies, and next best action journeys
  • Align participant engagement efforts with broader marketing priorities, annual campaign planning, and sales enablement initiatives

FINRA Series 6 required within 120 days of hire.

This hybrid position is based in Columbus, OH. Candidates will collaborate in office 3 days per week. Current Nationwide Remote Associates may also be considered.

As a Specialist, you'll assist and implement the overall development and execution of marketing strategies. We'll count on you to coordinate various marketing tactics for execution and work with internal teams and external vendors to achieve business results.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assists in the development and execution of strategies and plans that ensure long term sustainable growth of the business. Synthesizes data and uses this understanding to support identification and innovation of business building solutions.

  • Assists with the completion of moderate to complex projects and processes within area of responsibility to deliver results with multiple target completion dates and shifting priorities.

  • Assists with implementation of digital and traditional marketing tactics and media, including creative development process, planning and execution.

  • Collaborates on and assists with creative development and provides feedback on look and feel.

  • Uses customer insights and analytics and tools to understand and assists in forecasting market, competitor and customer needs and behavior, helps to define appropriate target audiences, evaluate sufficiency, and effectively get results with data-based decisions.

  • Monitors timelines to ensure programs are on strategy and on schedule. Informs leader of any discrepancies.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Director/Manager. This is an individual contributor role.

Typical Skills and Experience:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration or related field preferred.

License/Certification/Designation: Technical insurance designations such as CPCU, CLU, ChFC, FLMI considered a plus. Additional licensing may be required to hold this position; and associates will need to acquire the required federal and/or state licenses/registrations within the designated time period. Additional licenses/registrations may be required when new products and services are implemented. If an associate fails to acquire required licenses/registrations within the time period designated by the business unit, the associate will be ineligible to continue in the position.

Experience: Typically five or more years demonstrated professional experience in marketing, strategy, consulting, financial services, or related field.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Proven marketing development and project management experience. Passionate about marketing and delivering positive customer experiences. Ability to lead multiple projects and drive forward key deliverables. Ability to influence at all levels and work effectively across functions and geographies. Ability to use analytics to draw conclusions and make recommendations. Excellent communicator, highly organized, and able to build effective partnerships across functions.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and HR Business Partner.

Nationwide pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement within the actual starting salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. If a Sales job, Sales Incentives, based on performance goals are possible in addition to this range. Note on Compensation for Part-Time Roles: Please be aware that the salary ranges listed below reflect full-time compensation. Actual compensation may be prorated based on the number of hours worked relative to a full-time schedule.
