Job Summary

Loudoun County Parks, Recreation, and Community Services seeks a Marketing Specialist characterized by innovative thinking, precision in execution, and professional dedication to serve as a key member of the Marketing and Programs team. The successful applicant will undertake marketing campaigns, manage communications strategies, facilitate community outreach and engagement programs, and perform supplementary marketing and communications functions to cultivate public awareness and meaningful participation.

We are currently hiring for the following location(s):
  • PRCS, 742 Miller Drive, Leesburg, VA
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Facilitates the implementation of the Department's marketing strategy, which involves creating print and digital content as well as managing paid advertising efforts.
  • The role entails the establishment of project management tools to manage marketing activities, the production of authentic content such as graphics and logos, and the design of materials for the Department's programs and events.
  • Enhances the brand identities of the Department and County to further marketing, programming, and communication goals.
  • Provides support to the staff in producing diverse graphic design content, which encompasses print and digital communications, video and photography, signage, logos, promotional products, and special projects.
  • Manages publicity strategies for programs, activities, events, and services; ensures uniformity in publicity and program promotions, as well as the distribution of posters, flyers, and promotional materials throughout various divisions, programs, and service areas within the Department.
  • Coordinates and manages contracts and contracted vendors.
  • Accomplishes unique projects as delegated, either independently or in cooperation with others.
  • Executes internal and external communications strategies and tactics to keep the public and employees informed about departmental programs and services.
  • Assists in emergency and crisis communication efforts for the Department, following the guidance of the assigned supervisor; participates in Countrywide emergency communication initiatives when the Emergency Operations Center is fully activated.
  • The position may involve the performance of specific essential job functions, in addition to any other duties that may be assigned.
Hiring salary commensurate with experience.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field and two (2) years of related work experience. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in utilizing Canva and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Proficiency in utilizing photography management software (Canto), digital signage software (MVIX), and recreation management software (RecTrac).
  • Proficiency in graphic design, photography, video production, conducting research, writing, and publishing a wide variety of communications.

Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Must undergo criminal, credit, and DMV background checks. A valid driver's license and a good driving record are required (driving records may be assessed annually to ensure ongoing eligibility).
