As the Marketing Specialist, Design and Copy you will be responsible for concept development, graphic design (from concept to completion), print production, and email marketing campaigns.
You will be an integral part of the Division Marketing Services-a high-volume work environment. As such this opportunity requires an experienced professional with an extensive and diverse portfolio developed in a comparable professional setting. Projects with hard deadlines require you to effectively plan and manage your time and be available and willing to work additional hours as required.

The salary range for this position is:
• Recruitment range: $76,643 to $84,502. Starting salary is determined in accordance with the PEA Collective Agreement.
• Performance range: Up to $99,674. Progression beyond the recruitment range is available through annual performance increases, in accordance with the PEA Collective Agreement.
Job Summary
Reporting to the director, Division Marketing Services (DMS), the marketing specialist, design and copy is responsible for managing multiple design projects simultaneously from concept through to completion; this includes conceptualizing and creating visual content for digital and print media, and email marketing for the division. This position plays an integral role for the division to achieve its revenue generation and student recruitment goals, and in strengthening both the division's and university's reputation. This is primarily achieved by:
- creating content that is on strategy;
- a thorough understanding of marketing communication channels, and DCS' varying audiences, and tailoring content appropriate for these channels and audiences;
- staying on top of trends of emerging digital media channels to coordinate the most impactful digital media distribution strategy for varying and multiple audiences;
- proactively identifying opportunities to enhance the division's reputation without contradicting or conflicting with the university's institutional positioning, regionally, nationally and internationally;
- displaying expert knowledge in print and digital content creation in a variety of formats;
- supporting and training the division's program area staff (directors, program coordinators and program assistants) in marketing, graphic design, copywriting and editing, and email marketing;
- working collaboratively with other members of the DMS team, DCS staff, other university faculties and departments, and the division's stakeholders off campus; and
- overseeing projects, analyzing how they are progressing, reporting and advising on opportunities for improvement in the future.
- Carries out related marketing/design/writing/editing duties as required in keeping with the qualifications of the position and the requirements of the job.
Job Requirements
This position requires a bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual arts and communications or other related discipline, plus five years of graphic design experience both in digital and print media, plus two years' experience in email marketing.
A current portfolio of work demonstrating creative graphic design for print and digital media is required.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Knowledge, skills and abilities include:
- Current graphic design trends and techniques
- Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Animate and Acrobat (advanced-level)
- Commercial printing process (including selection of paper stock, evaluating printer proposals etc.)
- Preparation of complex layout files to commercial printing prepress standard, and prepare/convert files for online use
- Brand design and development
- Solid understanding of current print and digital design trends and techniques
- Demonstrated knowledge of HTML/HTML5 and CSS
- Sound knowledge of email marketing best practices
- Experience with Google Web Designer, Apple Keynote and/or other animation/video platforms
- Exceptional copywriting and editing skills
- Strong proficiency with use of internal style guides
- Solid understanding of project management best practices
- Experience on the Mac platform
