General Summary

Serves as a trusted advisor and collaborative leader within the healthcare organization, driving strategic initiatives that enhance patient engagement, donor engagement, brand reputation, and service line growth. This role bridges marketing strategy and insight with patient-centered communication, ensuring that messaging is aligned with organizational priorities, resonates with diverse audiences, and supports the delivery of compassionate, high-quality care. Must be an exceptional strategist, advisor and creative thinker and enjoy being part of a highly collaborative, innovative, and data-driven Marketing and Communications function.

Essential Functions:
  • Advances WellSpan's strategic plan by developing best-in-class marketing and patient communication approaches that drive patient and donor engagement; brand awareness, preference, favorability and loyalty, and growth of the health system in terms of volumes and dollars raised.
  • Provides strategic marketing and patient communications counsel to regional, medical group and business leaders. Identifies priorities, develops marketing plans and drives measurable results.
  • Develops a deep understanding of all patient and donor audiences and how to most effectively connect with them through all forms of patient communication and marketing.
  • Crafts high impact communications that engage both the hearts and minds of patients and donors. Leverage technology and artificial intelligence for consistent messaging and style appropriate for the various audiences and channels.
  • Develops metrics for all marketing and patient engagement plans, contributes to function's dashboards and embraces evidence-based communication planning.
  • Works collaboratively with Internal Communications, Public Relations, and Creative Services to deliver high impact integrated plans.
  • Regularly scans internal and external environment for best practices and opportunities; manages issues and opportunities impacting the system's reputation and brand.
  • Ensures compliance with WellSpan brand identity and nomenclature standards across all services, physician practices and facilities within local system of care, as well as Marketing and Communications.
  • Responsible for photography and videography of system functions and other related activities.
  • Serves as a role model and coach to marketing and patient communication specialists and oversight on tactical execution.

  • Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment and safety standards.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
  • Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.

Travel Requirements:
  • Estimated Amount: 15% - Periodic travel required primarily for meetings, trainings, and periodic visits to clients, project sites, or system locations.

  • Bachelors Degree Required

Work Experience:
  • 7 years Experience in Marketing. Required
  • Experience in Marketing in a large, complex healthcare organization. Preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Excellent written/oral communications, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Strong computer skills and willingness to embrace new technology and artificial intelligence.
  • Strong writing and project management skills.
  • Familiarity with marketing platforms.
