Overview:

As a Marine Manager, you will lead daily marine terminal operations to ensure safe, efficient, and customer-focused cargo handling activities. This role oversees key operational functions including crane operations, rail unloading, truck receiving and delivery, cargo washing, and packaging. You will serve as a critical link between customers, vessel operations, terminal teams, stevedores, and other stakeholders, ensuring seamless communication and operational execution. Success in this role requires strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced maritime environment.

Job Description

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Oversee daily terminal operations, including crane, rail, truck, cargo washing, packaging and fleet maintenance.
  • Promote a proactive and collaborative work environment where management, labor, and service partners work together to achieve operational goals.
  • Coordinate with vessel operations, cargo management, customer care teams, stevedores, and customers to ensure efficient cargo flow and service delivery.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for customer inquiries, appointments, operational issues, and service-related concerns.
  • Monitor cargo handling activities to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards.
  • Manage equipment availability, maintenance coordination, and terminal systems while supporting operational excellence, digitalization, sustainability, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate third-party services and invoicing while maintaining effective communication with customers, labor, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure safe and efficient cargo operations.
  • Identify operational challenges and implement corrective actions to improve performance, productivity, and customer satisfaction.

Job Requirements

WHAT YOU'LL NEED
  • 2+ years of experience in marine terminal, vessel, port, transportation, logistics, or related operations.
  • Strong labor management, leadership, and negotiation skills.
  • Strategic thinker who is adaptable, collaborative, and able to build strong relationships with employees, customers, labor, and business partners.
  • Customer-focused with excellent communication skills and a commitment to service excellence.
  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Very proficient with operational systems, technology platforms, and Microsoft Office applications

  • Experience working with union labor environments.
  • Knowledge of vessel planning, cargo operations, and stevedoring activities.

The Marine Manager starting salary is between $96,000 - 105,000.
