Full Job Description
High-quality reagents are the foundation of Ansa's DNA synthesis platform and downstream workflow. In this role, you will own the day-to-day production of master mixes, buffers, and chemical reagents - formulating, QC testing and release at an increasing scale. As a member of our manufacturing team, you will also be responsible for making process improvements, e.g., setting appropriate QC metrics, authoring and revising formulation, QC and raw material acceptance batch records, and mentoring other manufacturing associates. Beyond reagent manufacturing, you will be part of a dynamic, cross-functional, highly collaborative team operating at the interface of development, supply chain and production.

If you have a passion for the life sciences and advancing new DNA synthesis technologies, this job is for you!

Responsibilities
  • Formulate, aliquot, and release master mixes, buffers, and chemical reagents to standard operating procedures (SOPs) with high attention-to-detail and consistency.
  • Run in-process and release QC on incoming raw materials and finished goods; investigate out-of-spec results and drive them to resolution.
  • Maintain careful records for sample traceability using custom LIMS and existing record-keeping systems.
  • Update and maintain documentation (SOPs) and work instructions as needed.
  • Transfer new reagent formulations and protocols from R&D into a rapidly scaling manufacturing pipeline, working alongside technology transfer and development teams.
  • Own inventory, material planning, and cold-chain storage for critical reagents to ensure consistent and uninterrupted supply.
  • Train and mentor manufacturing associates; serve as a shift point-of-contact for troubleshooting and escalation.
  • Work with teammates to design and scale next-generation manufacturing systems.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs and stand for long periods of time.
  • Collaborating in a team environment: At Ansa, communication between teams is critical-our technology is built on enzymes, chemistry, and automation. Additionally, we believe that honesty and openness are an instrumental part of the scientific endeavor.

Experience
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in reagent, biologics, or life-science manufacturing, including hands-on reagent formulation.
  • Demonstrated experience formulating critical reagents and buffers according to formulation batch records and QC release procedures, including documentation in a controlled system (LIMS, ERP, QMS).
  • Demonstrated experience working within the context of a quality management system, e.g., CAPA, non-conformance, status control and traceability.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and scale quickly to meet reagent demand.
  • Experience working with supply chain to ensure adequate inventory of raw materials.
  • Proven track-record of operating laboratory equipment following SOPs and directions for both simple and highly complex processes.
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly in a multidisciplinary environment with tight deadlines and specifications.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to clearly discuss and present technical concepts and results.
  • Commitment to demonstrating kindness, respect, and collaboration with a diverse set of colleagues of different backgrounds and disciplines.
  • Availability to work a Monday-Friday day shift on-site in Emeryville, CA.

What We Offer
  • Competitive salary and equity.
  • Generous benefits package including health, dental, and vision.
  • Ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
  • A collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • The opportunity to be part of a company at the forefront of synthetic biology and innovation.
