Full Job Description
Manufacturing Operations Manager

Summary: Oversees all machining and related support operations throughout the organization over multiple work shifts. Develops, maintains, and improves processes involved with making products that comply with predetermined standards of quality and estimated costs. Establishes and coordinates work schedules and manages employees in the Machine Shop Department.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Manage and mentor a team consisting of Supervisors and Lead Machinists. Establish weekly work schedules, assess productivity of personnel, and conduct periodic performance reviews. Monitor overall department workload, make recommendations for staffing, and take an active role in the hiring process for the department.
  • Provide technical guidance to the Sales, Engineering, and Production personnel in areas including: general machining, design for manufacturing, machine shop capability, and machining process times.
  • Work with the Production Control Department to plan and coordinate production schedules with a goal of 100% on-time delivery and for all customer orders. Make production decisions to best balance cost effectiveness, product quality, and project timing. Manage "Rush" work with a sense of urgency to best meet internal and external customer expectations.
  • Attend weekly production meetings prepared to communicate status updates for machine shop work in progress and to take away direction necessary to achieve company delivery and productivity goals.
  • Work to develop a culture of continuous improvement at Butech-Bliss. Lead and participate in projects with overall goals of improving machine shop capability and productivity. Lead on-going efforts for improving spindle uptime. Work to evaluate, justify, and introduce new technology related to machining.
  • Comply with all Butech-Bliss safety rules, be an active participate in safety initiatives, encourage safe work practices among other employees, and complete incident reporting as required.
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.


Qualifications:
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work well with all levels of the organization.
  • Solid analytical skills with ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations
  • Self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision or assistance, must have proven leadership skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
  • Willing to work overtime as required

PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS
  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, crouch, bend, reach, push and pull.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of an Associate's degree in a technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 10 plus years of experience in both manual and CNC machining, preferably in a job-shop setting
  • Previous leadership experience in machining with history of an increasing level of responsibility
  • Basic computer skills and CAD/CAM experience required - MRP/ERP system experience preferred
  • Continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and quality system experience preferred
  • Prior experience with Environmental Health and Safety practices in a manufacturing setting preferred
