Manufacturing Manager
Position Grade: PG13
Purpose: Provide leadership and guidance to shift teams in a NON-TRADITIONAL, HIGH PERFORMANCE WORK ENVIRONMENT, that promote personal development, accountability, shift to shift consistency, and managerial cooperation so that the Key Performance Measures (KPM) are met through continuous improvement. This position will include overall responsibilities for technical and non-technical training for all employees. The position will change over time to focus more on employee selection and retention strategies, budgetary responsibilities, and additional work assignments.
Key Accountabilities:
• Be a SAFETY advocate and champion. Provide managerial support for the EHS process. Guide Safety teams towards an accident-free work environment.
• Committed to managing by Principles versus by Rules in keeping with the Sumter philosophy
• Responsible for training, career tracking, and discipline through team meetings, personal 1 to l's, peer evaluations, and Human Resources assistance
• Manufacturing responsibilities for 3 Cut-size Sheeters and associated packaging lines
• Manage available resources to achieve KPM (Key Performance Measures) through continuous improvement
• Lead Quality Process
• Lead and support Converting Manufacturing Process (CME) - reducing production bottlenecks leading to increased production efficiency
• Leadership role in managing the capital improvement process (CIP)
• Proactive management that encourages:

• Decision making at the lowest level
• Innovative and positive thinking
• Risk taking
• Insure policies, procedures, and guidelines are understood and followed to achieve overall team consistency plant -wide
• Devoted to being a positive "Change Agent" in the High Performance work environment by leading "change" throughout the organization
• Assume overall Sumter plant responsibility in the plant manager's absence. Assume and coordinate weekend call every 3'd weekend
• Responsible for Team Leader development
• Have stand-alone skills necessary to make decisions without the need for upper management approval
Key Challenges: Be able to assume the following assignments within a short period of time:
• Managing Safety efforts throughout the organization by championing the Safety process
• Budgeting and insuring budget compliance by managing budget in areas of responsibility
• Manage machine and plant maintenance/reliability issues for the entire facility
• Manage and lead basic care teams, contract personnel, and machine reliability teams, etc.
• Interface with other Converting Sites and Mills for resources and Best Practices sharing
• Provide Human Resources support for management and employees
• Manage engineering support for major projects and expansions
• Increase knowledge and expertise through additional education and training in areas of responsibility.
• Commitment and support of Sumter Team Leader philosophy
• Special Conditions:
• Travel required
• Weekend and after hours plant involvement
• Additional assignments as needed
Requirements:
• High School Diploma or GED
• 5 years in a manufacturing environment (preferably in a sheeter/converting facility)
• Previous leadership experience preferred
