What you will do

You will manage activities and allocate resources within the Manufacturing Engineering Team to develop and meet Divisional, Site, and Value Stream goals. You will lead a group of manufacturing engineers and technicians to design and develop tools, controls, equipment, and processes to support manufacturing fabrication and assembly operations of commercial units. A significant portion of your time is dedicated to team development, performance management, and organizational leadership responsibilities. You will also work closely with the manufacturing operations team with a Lean mindset in developing new production methods, workstream consolidation layouts, and interfacing with the quality control staff to establish standards and resolve manufacturing issues.


How you will do it

  • Position is responsible for managing Manufacturing Engineering personnel and Lean Manufacturing professionals (4 currently)
  • Develop Future State vision and drive and monitor the implementation plan.
  • Provide direction and guidance to technician and engineering staff who exercise significant latitude and independence in their assignments.
  • Align resources and identifies opportunities for improvement within the existing processes and systems.
  • Build strong relationships and collaborate with cross-functional teams including Operations, Maintenance, Quality, New Product Introduction, Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Team, Supplier Engineering, and Continuous improvement functions.
  • Ensure that inputs from all internal and external customers are understood, plans are appropriately developed and drives accountability and execution to plans.
  • Utilize excellent communication skills, demonstrating leadership communicating both up and down the organization.
  • Influence, guide, and manage internal/external resources to achieve program goals.
  • Provide significant guidance and approval regarding technical strategies and approaches.
  • Recruit, coach, and develop organizational talent.

  • Strong Capital Planning skills: budget, application and project management.
  • Direct activities of manufacturing engineers in developing labor standards, work instructions, operational description sheets, and labor costing.
  • Responsible for achieving the plant's annual Continuous Improvement (CI) Savings Goal by:
    • Enhancing Workflow (Material Presentation, Material Flow, Support Plan for Every Part)
    • Balancing Production Lines
    • Conducting 3P Kaizen events
    • Adopting a Lean mindset to eliminate waste and reduce controllable conversion costs

What We Look For

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of Manufacturing Engineering, Production Operations, or Manufacturing Operations experience within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years of people leadership experience, including direct management of Manufacturing Engineers. Candidates must demonstrate experience leading teams of 4 or more engineers, with responsibility for coaching, performance management, talent development, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Proven track record leading Manufacturing Engineering functions, including process improvement, production support, manufacturing strategy, capital projects, tooling, automation, and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and facilitating Kaizen Events, Lean Transformations, and Continuous Improvement initiatives, resulting in measurable improvements in safety, quality, delivery, productivity, inventory reduction, and cost savings.
  • Advanced knowledge and hands-on application of Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen methodologies, including: Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Production Preparation Process (3P), Standard Work, Leader Standard Work, 5S, SMED (Single-Minute Exchange of Die), Visual Management, Line Balancing, Kanban Systems, Root Cause Analysis, A3 Problem Solving, Gemba Walks, Daily Management Systems (DMS).
  • Strong experience developing future-state manufacturing strategies and implementing Lean flow concepts to optimize material presentation, material flow, labor efficiency, and production throughput.
  • Experience with manufacturing process improvement, production systems, industrial engineering methods, labor standards, and continuous improvement tools.
  • Demonstrated project management experience including capital planning, budgeting, equipment acquisition, vendor management, implementation, and project execution.
  • Hands-on experience in cost estimating, contract negotiations, supplier engagement, and working with manufacturing equipment and systems vendors.
  • Experience with Electrical Engineering and Electrical Systems Integration in a manufacturing environment, including implementation, troubleshooting, or support of one or more of the following: PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMIs (Human Machine Interfaces), SCADA Systems, Industrial Controls, Robotics and Automation Systems, Sensors and Instrumentation, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Servo Systems, Power Distribution Systems, Automated Production Equipment.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing automation, machine controls, and electrical systems as they relate to equipment reliability, process capability, productivity improvement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams, lead change, communicate effectively across all organizational levels, and drive accountability for results.
  • Proven ability to foster a culture of safety, inclusion, engagement, continuous learning, and operational excellence.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or equivalent Continuous Improvement certification.
  • Experience leading plant-wide Lean transformations.
  • Experience supporting automated manufacturing, industrial automation, or smart factory initiatives.
  • Experience with HVAC, industrial equipment, assembly, fabrication, or other engineered-to-order manufacturing environments.

Hiring Salary Range
$100,000.00 - $167,000.00 USD Annual (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.)  This position includes a competitive benefits package.
