Position Summary

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is responsible for leading manufacturing engineering
activities within a high-volume fastener manufacturing plant. This role provides technical leadership
for process optimization, tooling development, capital equipment projects, automation initiatives,
and continuous improvement programs to improve productivity, quality, capacity, and operational
efficiency.

The position serves as a key member of the plant management team, partnering with Production,
Maintenance, Quality, Toolroom, and Supply Chain to develop and implement manufacturing
solutions that supp

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing Engineering & Process Improvement
• Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes for cold forming, machining,
tooling, packaging, and secondary operations.
• Analyze production processes to identify opportunities for productivity improvement, waste
reduction, capacity expansion, and cost optimization.
• Lead process improvement initiatives focused on increasing throughput, improving quality,
reducing downtime, and lowering operating costs.
• Conduct process capability studies, time studies, and manufacturing assessments to
improve operational performance.
• Provide technical support to Production and Maintenance teams for process-related issues
and equipment performance improvements.
• Develop and maintain manufacturing standards, work instructions, setup procedures, and
process documentation.

Equipment & Engineering Projects
• Evaluate new technologies, automation solutions, and equipment upgrades to support
capacity growth and operational improvements
• Build relationships with equipment manufacturers, tooling suppliers, contractors, and
technical partners.
• Participate in equipment modifications, process transfers, and manufacturing changes to
ensure successful implementation.
• Support the team in capital expenditure justifications, including cost analysis, ROI
evaluation, and project timelines.

Tooling Engineering & Toolroom Support
• Provide technical leadership and engineering direction to the Toolroom, supporting tooling
design, fabrication, repair, and improvement activities.
• Design, reverse engineer, and improve tooling, fixtures, machine components, and
manufacturing equipment using SolidWorks and engineering software.
• Support the development and optimization of cold forming tooling, dies, fixtures, gauges,
and production components.
• Determine material selection, specifications, and manufacturing methods for tooling
components and machine parts.
• Prioritize Toolroom activities based on production requirements, equipment reliability, and
business priorities.
• Support troubleshooting of tooling failures and implement corrective actions to improve
tool life and performance.

Equipment Reliability & Technical Support
• Provide advanced mechanical troubleshooting and engineering support for production
equipment, tooling, and manufacturing systems.
• Collaborate with Maintenance to improve equipment reliability and reduce unplanned
downtime.
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) on equipment failures, process issues, and recurring
manufacturing problems.
• Support equipment modifications, machine upgrades, and engineering improvements to
enhance safety, reliability, and productivity.
• Participate in equipment installation, validation, and startup activities.

Automation & Operational Excellence
• Evaluate opportunities for automation, robotics, and technology improvements to increase
efficiency and reduce labor requirements.
• Support Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the
facility.
• Support solutions to improve material flow, production efficiency, and workplace
organization.
• Support plant layout optimization projects to improve workflow, safety, and space
utilization.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement and data-driven decision-making.
