Job Summary:

Our Miamisburg, OH facility is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to support a low‑volume, high‑mix production environment. A strong background in machining is preferred.  This role focuses on work instruction development, process validation, and continuous improvement, requiring strong problem‑solving abilities and clear communication across cross‑functional teams. Additional processes may include mechanical assembly, electronics soldering and assembly, epoxy encapsulation, ceramic-to-metal sealing, tracer gas leak testing, machining, and welding.  The Manufacturing Engineer will report directly to the Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor.

What You’ll Do:

  • Create and update work instructions that define critical‑to‑quality characteristics and establish robust process controls;
  • Train production personnel on new processes and revisions to existing procedures;
  • Lead multiple continuous improvement and process development initiatives;
  • Collaborate with operations, quality, and planning teams to meet delivery schedules, maintain quality, and minimize manufacturing costs;
  • Support and develop assembly processes involving soldering, encapsulation, fastening, and related manufacturing methods;
  • Investigate fabrication, test, and assembly issues and drive corrective actions;
  • Review engineering designs for manufacturability and recommend improvements to reduce variation and enhance production flow;
  • Support early‑stage design concepts and prototype builds;
  • Conduct make/buy and value‑engineering studies to identify cost‑reduction opportunities;
  • Streamline processes by eliminating waste and implementing cost‑saving improvements;
  • Embed safety requirements into work instructions and support accident investigations and safety‑related activities;
  • Assist in training production machinists and other employees related to specific program work;
  • Assist the machining group in the setup of various CNC and manual machining processes and assist in trouble shooting machining issues, fixture design, and giving recommendations for improvement as necessary;
  • Support job hazard analysis activities when appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Need:

  • B.S. degree in an engineering discipline and/or machining certificate is preferred;
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing/production environment;
  • Experience with SolidWorks or other 3D CAD platforms;
  • Experience with G-Code and CNC Programing is desired;
  • Strong understanding/experience of blueprints and GD&T;
  • Experience with gauging and measurement techniques and equipment is a plus;
  • Supervisory experience in a manufacturing role is a plus;
  • Knowledge of PLC’s, ladder logic, and automation is a plus;
  • Fixture and tooling design experience is a plus;
  • Experience using DFMEA, PFMEA and DFA/DFM methodologies;
  • Proactive communication and interpersonal skills while working in cross-functional teams;
  • Strong judgment and decision-making skills;
  • Green or Black Belt certification is a plus;
