Full Job Description
OVERVIEW

This role is supporting an advanced optical deposition system. This position will play a key role in standing up and scaling production.

This is a floor-first role: you will spend your time working alongside assembly technicians, troubleshooting real hardware issues, supporting early builds where processes are still being defined, and helping establish the foundation for scalable manufacturing. The environment is high-complexity with evolving processes and multiple tool configurations; a strong opportunity to grow into a subject matter expert as production ramps.

The work location for this position is on-site at our manufacturing partner's Beverly, MA facility.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical & controls hardware issues during assembly, integration, and final test - diagnosing problems on the production floor and implementing solutions that hold across builds
  • Support early production builds where processes are still being defined, working through ambiguity and helping stabilize manufacturing workflows as the program scales
  • Lead root-cause investigations/escalation using structured problem-solving methods (Fishbone diagrams, 5 Why, 8D) and implement permanent corrective actions that prevent recurrence
  • Work across multiple tool configurations, adapting to changing build requirements and varying system maturity
  • Develop and maintain assembly instructions, work instructions, and training materials to improve build consistency
  • Execute engineering changes, deviations, and rework directives in production, coordinating with planning and the shop floor
  • Partner with Design Engineering, Quality, Field Service, and Supply Chain to resolve issues and drive continuous improvement in manufacturability, build repeatability, and product quality

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, sustaining engineering, or hardware support roles (5+ years for more senior candidates).
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex electromechanical hardware in a production environment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Experience supporting production lines for complex electromechanical systems, including assembly, integration, and test in high-complexity environments (semiconductor equipment preferred)
  • Hands-on, production floor mindset with the ability to work alongside technicians on active builds
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, 3D models, BOMs, and GD&T. Good working knowledge of Solidworks.
  • Experience troubleshooting assemblies involving valves, gas delivery systems, cryogenic equipment (e.g., cryo-compressors), controllers, or similar hardware
  • Proficiency in structured problem-solving (8D, Fishbone) with a track record of implementing corrective actions
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP preferred) to manage engineering changes, deviations, and production data
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, ramp-phase environment while creating clear process documentation (work instructions, sequence of operations, training materials)

Salary and BenefitsThe expected salary range for this position is $93,968.00-125,291.00, plus a bonus opportunity. We will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors when determining your pay.

Other benefits include:

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision
  • 401(k) with Company Match
  • Holiday, Vacation, and Sick Time
  • Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
