Manufacturing Engineer

MBOM, Teamcenter & Defense Manufacturing

Plymouth, MI

$45.00-$57.00/Hour

We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support production planning, manufacturing process development, and MBOM (Manufacturing Bill of Materials) management in Plymouth, MI. This role is responsible for developing manufacturing methods, creating work instructions, supporting engineering changes, and optimizing production processes using Teamcenter, MRP systems, CAD models, and manufacturing engineering best practices. Ideal candidates have experience in manufacturing process development, production support, and defense or regulated manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain manufacturing methods, operation sequences, and production processes for complex assemblies and installations.
  • Define and control production workflows, manufacturing processes, and process documentation to support efficient production operations.
  • Create and maintain detailed manufacturing work instructions, standard operating procedures, and process documentation.
  • Develop and maintain Manufacturing Bills of Materials (MBOMs) and support MRP planning activities.
  • Analyze engineering drawings, CAD models, specifications, technical documentation, and test results to ensure manufacturability.
  • Evaluate engineering changes and design release activities while assessing their impact on manufacturing processes and MBOM structures.
  • Recommend manufacturing tooling, fixtures, equipment, and production methods to improve quality, efficiency, and repeatability.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Engineering and Manufacturing to support product introduction and production readiness.
  • Document manufacturing procedures, process qualifications, and engineering records in accordance with company standards.
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, Engineering, and senior leadership to support continuous improvement initiatives and major manufacturing projects.


Qualifications:
  • US Citizenship required by Federal Law.
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or another engineering discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Experience developing and maintaining manufacturing processes in a production environment.
  • Working knowledge of Teamcenter and MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems.
  • Experience developing and maintaining Manufacturing Bills of Materials (MBOMs).
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, technical specifications, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Understanding of engineering change management and product design release processes.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing engineering principles, production methods, technical standards, and process development.
  • Experience recommending tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing equipment to support production.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and other Windows-based software.
  • Strong planning, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) manufacturing programs.
  • Familiarity with Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) audits and compliance requirements.
  • Previous manufacturing plant or production floor experience.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing capabilities, production planning, and continuous improvement methodologies.
