Full Job Description
Roush has an immediate need for an enthusiastic Manufacturing Engineer II to join our team! The Manufacturing Engineer II is responsible for evaluating manufacturing processes by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials with other internal areas of Roush. The role will develop and improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and fixture development. The Manufacturing Engineer II will develop and improve manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching and improving existing prints, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment, as well as other manufacturing responsibilities. This position is located in Livonia, MI.

As a Manufacturing Engineer II, you will:
  • Provide manufacturing feasibility assessments for capacity requirements, product design, engineering changes, scope changes and quality concerns
  • Develop process flow and line layout requirements
  • Develop and implement effective work instructions
  • Define capital equipment and tooling required and maintain adherence to the budget of the program
  • Project manage the procurement and acceptance of required equipment & tooling
  • Project manage the ME requirements of the product development and launch processes
  • Facilitate the implementation of production equipment/tooling into the manufacturing facility and any corresponding technical training
  • Assess the product, process, equipment and tooling strategies for potential ergonomic concerns and manage action items to resolve
  • Support customer part needs through pilot, testing, run-at-rate and internal process sign offs
  • Create and support continuous improvement projects
  • Provide coaching and assistance to entry level mechanical engineers

To be considered as a Manufacturing Engineer II, you will need:
  • Must be U.S. Person allowing for International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) compliance (U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident (Green Card holder), or asylee/refugee)
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, emphasis in manufacturing, welding and or assembly processes
  • 2 years previous experience in a production-based environment
  • Knowledge of production weldment fixtures, low volume production manufacturing and assembly
  • Ability to conduct time studies and workflow analysis
  • Proficient with MS Office with the specific ability to create project plans
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment, be detail oriented, work independently and execute plans
  • Knowledge of ISO9001 and AS9100 processes and procedures
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record

A successful Manufacturing Engineer II candidate may also have:
  • Experience with automotive, aviation or defense industries
  • Experience in advanced manufacturing (robotics, moderate volume automation, programmable logic controllers (PLC Controls)
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and practices
  • Knowledge of APQP process
