Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Works with Value Stream team to identify and apply continuous improvement methods to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, or cost-effectiveness
  • Designs, develops, tests or sources and cost-justifies various tools, machinery, and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
  • Supports senior engineers in research, design and development of manufacturing processes including welding schedules, production flow, assembly methods, production equipment and machining.
  • Project management of identified capital equipment projects
  • Applies failure analysis to determine root causes of problems and failures and develops solutions or recommends changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods.
  • Evaluates equipment requirements, performs cost analyses, and proposals for integrating machinery and equipment into manufacturing process.
  • Coordinates all pre-production activities including sample evaluation, design qualification and prototype production.
  • Provides documentation and detailed drawings for manufacturing and assembly of materials, assemblies, and finished products.
  • Prepares documentation for new manufacturing processes or engineering procedures.
  • Proficient with design software to perform engineering and design tasks.
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of best practice Lean vision, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.
  • Assist technicians and/or maintenance with troubleshooting, building and/or assembly of various machines and equipment as necessary.


Requirements

  • Experience with and knowledge of solid modeling, SolidWorks or AutoCAD engineering design software, and engineering materials and their properties.

  • Communication Skills - The ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally with all levels of supervision on the status of jobs.

  • Judgment and Decision Making - Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Mechanical - Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Problem Sensitivity - The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
  • Production and Processing - Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Systems Analysis - Determining how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
  • Troubleshooting - Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it


Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university in Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 3 years relevant manufacturing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
