Position at Hood Plywood

Hood Industries, Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Area Superintendent for our Beaumont, Mississippi plywood facility. This is a greenfield site that will employ up to 250 employees. The Manufacturing Area Superintendent is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of an assigned manufacturing area by providing leadership to supervisors, promoting a safe and productive work environment, and ensuring operational goals for safety, quality, productivity, and cost are achieved.

Lead the assigned manufacturing area by engaging People, managing through Process, and driving sustainable Performance in alignment with the Hood Management Philosophy of "The Hood Way." Foster positive employee relations while achieving operational excellence, meeting production goals, and ensuring compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and established operating standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of assigned manufacturing areas to achieve safety, quality, productivity, cost, and production objectives.
  • Monitor and manage key performance indicators (KPI's), forecasts, budgets, productivity, inventories, safety, and other operational metrics.
  • Establish performance expectations, coach supervisors, and hold teams accountable for achieving operational goals.
  • Develop supervisors and high-potential employees while fostering teamwork, accountability, and positive employee relations.
  • Resolve operational, scheduling, staffing, and production issues to maintain safe and efficient operations.
  • Promote a strong customer-focused culture by meeting the needs of both internal and external customers.
  • Establish and maintain consistent processes, standards, and operating expectations to ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and applicable laws.
  • Lead by example by demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence.
  • Support and promote reliability maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives to improve operational performance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost through data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement efforts.

Education/Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Post-secondary education in manufacturing, industrial technology, engineering, business, or a related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience, with wood products experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to make timely, sound decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Strong technical aptitude.
  • Ability to build productive working relationships and develop employees.

Salary Range - $86,000 - $104,000
