Position Description

Plans and directs the overall operation of a complex area/department and provides leadership for staff members. Under executive direction, performs highly varied administrative duties involving the use of independent judgment and professional skills. Responsible for all employees assigned to area.

Major/Essential Functions

Clinical Operations
  • Oversee scheduling, patient throughput, staffing, supply chain operations, and resource allocation.
  • Monitor operating room utilization, block utilization, turnover times, and procedural efficiency.
  • Establish operational standards that support quality care, patient satisfaction, and operational sustainability.
Physician Relations & Service Line Development
  • Support physician recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts.
  • Identify opportunities for growth in procedural volume and service line expansion.
  • Collaborate with physicians to evaluate future specialties and ambulatory surgery opportunities.
Compliance & Risk Management
  • Maintain compliance with CMS Conditions for Coverage, OSHA, HIPAA, CLIA, and applicable state regulations.
  • Support accreditation activities and survey readiness efforts.
  • Collaborate with institutional compliance and legal teams regarding regulatory issues and risk mitigation strategies.
Quality & Patient Safety
  • Lead quality improvement and patient safety initiatives throughout the ASC.
  • Monitor patient satisfaction, clinical outcomes, infection prevention measures, and quality performance indicators.
  • Establish and maintain benchmarking programs to evaluate operational and clinical performance.
Human Capital Management
  • Provide leadership in workforce planning, recruitment, retention, and professional development.
  • Ensure staffing models appropriately support operational and organizational objectives.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and support employee development initiatives.
Project & Program Leadership
  • Direct projects related to facility operations, technology implementation, equipment acquisition, process improvement, and service line development.
  • Coordinate cross-functional initiatives involving clinical operations, finance, compliance, facilities, and information technology.
  • Lead operational planning activities supporting future ASC growth opportunities.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA), Business Administration (MBA), Public Health (MPH), Nursing Administration, or related field.
  • Prior Ambulatory Surgery Center leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of CMS Conditions for Coverage, AAAHC, Joint Commission, and ambulatory surgery accreditation requirements.
  • Experience with facility development, service line expansion, physician recruitment, and strategic planning initiatives.
  • Professional certification such as FACHE, CMPE, CASC, or equivalent healthcare leadership credential.


Pay Statement

Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan. For additional information, please reference the institutional pay plan website at https://app4.ttuhsc.edu/payplan.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required. Seven years progressively responsible management experience required. Education beyond bachelor's level may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis.
