Job Description SummaryThis position supports initiatives within division and is responsible for the overall leadership, direction and coordination of the Traffic Safety department. In this position, frequent collaboration with other College departments is necessary. This position will provide regular reports to internal and external audiences regarding non-credit courses and trainings offered.

Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm
Job DescriptionEssential Functions and ResponsibilitiesThe following duties are primarily performed and are essential for this position. Employees are expected to be able to perform each of these job duties satisfactorily to be qualified for the position. Other duties may be required and assigned.Serve as Traffic Safety School Program Manager:- Develop and maintain program policies, practices, and strategies.
- Provide direct supervision of support staff, including assigning work and ensuring effective daily operations.
- Schedule classes and assign instructors or delegate as appropriate.
- Evaluate certified instructors at least once during each certification period.
- Provide guidance and support to staff on program policies, practices, and issues.
- Train and onboard new instructors and coordinate ongoing in-service training.
- Prepare and submit required quarterly reports to the DOT.
- Review, screen, and submit application materials for prospective instructors.
- Attend required meetings for Traffic Safety School Program Coordinators and the Wisconsin Advisory Council.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of student and staff information.
- Address and resolve student concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Collaborate with assessors to coordinate alternative education referrals.
Assist in department-level planning, budget development, and budget management:- Assist in developing and monitoring department budgets as assigned.
- Develop partnerships to aid in community programing updates, modifications, and development.
- Assist in the continuous monitoring and improvement of department productivity utilizing key indicators such as numbers served, cost effectiveness, contract services revenue and cost recovery.
- Provide leadership to functional and cross-functional teams as assigned.
Non-Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Participate in institutional committees, projects, task forces, etc. as appropriate.
- Commitment to customer service, continuous improvement, student learning and success.
- Excellent leadership skills and a demonstrated success record in team-based operations and management.
- Experience in the development and delivery of training programs for community members.
- Ability to foster and sustain professional relationships with internal and external customers.
Minimum QualificationsEducation and/or Experience Requirements:- Associate degree in related field required, bachelor's degree preferred; AND
- Six years of related work experience, preferably with three years in Higher Education and/or in state regulation and compliance, AND
- Minimum two years of recent leadership/supervisory experience, OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is required.
Licenses, Certifications, and Other Requirements:- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Work Environment- Work must be completed in-person; however, some virtual flexibility may be an option based on Associate Dean or Dean discretion.
- Work is typically performed during the day; however, some evenings may be required.
- Work may require unanticipated after-hours assistance (evening and/or weekends) to address inclement weather, class cancelations, or other class related concerns.
- May require driving.
Work environment may change based upon college needs.Physical Requirements- Sitting: Prolonged periods of sitting while performing tasks and utilizing computer system.
- Mobility: While much of the work is desk-based, occasional mobility may be necessary for coordinating meetings within the workplace.
- Lifting and Carrying: Occasional/continuous lifting and carrying of light to moderate items of less than or equal to 10 lbs.
- Fine Motor Skills: Requires precise hand movements for typing and using office equipment.
- Repetitive Motions: Capacity to perform repetitive motions, such as typing, without discomfort or injury.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with staff and stakeholders, both in-person and through electronic means.
Additional InformationStarting Range: $79,500 - $93,500 per year.
Pay is based on a multitude of factors, including experience, qualifications, education, relevant certifications, internal equity, and market data.
