Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Manger Tool Die Making 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Tooling organization. This leadership role is in Palmdale, CA.

We are looking for a Tool and Die Manager 2 to Lead the Advanced Measurement Systems group! The selected candidate will be responsible for daily operations of a team or work unit (direct supervision of the staff, assignment of work, schedules, day to day workflow, and operating costs).

Job Functions
  • Program Manager Responsibilities include: cost, schedule, and technical performance of a specific unit or work package on a large system development-type contract or broad responsibility for all aspects of program performance on a delivery order or small technical services-type contract.
  • Candidate will work with Manufacturing Engineering in developing solutions to highly complex mechanical problems, for dispositions and best methodology to make repairs, and to analyze and advise on data results.
  • The selected candidate may also assist in the assignment of personnel to support all Aerospace Systems computer aided measurement tasks, advise and train personnel in the usage of Computer Aided Metrology Systems (C.A.M.S.) through on the job training and classroom time, and assist in certification testing.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor Degree and 5 years of experience which includes at least 2 years of experience with assorted Computer-Aided Measurement Systems (C.A.M.S.) and/or Laser Tracking Interferometer or non-Interferometer Systems (FARO-LEICA-API) or High School Diploma and 9 years of experience which includes at least 2 years of experience with assorted Computer-Aided Measurement Systems (C.A.M.S.) and/or Laser Tracking Interferometer or non-Interferometer Systems (FARO-LEICA-API)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a lead/leadership role
  • Must be familiar with multiple computer aided metrology systems such as laser trackers, articulated arms, scanners 6DoF (Six Degree of Freedom) etc.
  • Experience in data collection for the Validation/Verification of Tooling and Production Engineering. Coordination with Manufacturing. Engineering, Quality, and Tool Design to interpret, analyze, and advise on the data results.
  • Ability to obtain DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance and Special Program Access is required.
  • Position requires travel and ability to work any shift as necessary.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience with inspection, maintenance/repair, testing and optical and mechanical alignment/adjustment of laser modules and laser tracking systems.
  • Experience with calibration/compensation of instrument to ensure quality measurements.
  • Experience with computer aided graphic interfaces (Verisurf X, SA and Maya matrix, Build!IT, Polyworks).
  • Experience in data collection for the Validation/Verification of Tooling and Production Engineering. Coordination with Manufacturing. Engineering, Quality, and Tool Design to interpret, analyze, and advise on the data results.
  • Experience with assembly tooling and/or composite tooling.
  • Knowledge of Theodolite systems, Photogrammetric laser radar systems, laser scanning systems and articulating arms.
  • Ability to communicate/interface with multiple levels, such as Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Tool Design to interpret, analyze, and advise on the data results.
  • Experience in 3D modeling systems (CATIA UG, V5, R22).
  • Experience in reverse engineering and model building from collected data
  • Ability to implement Lean Thinking in the operations and documentation of Computer-Aided Measurement Systems (C.A.M.S.). Working knowledge of schedules, day to day workflow, and operating costs
  • Full working knowledge of procedures and practices.


Primary Level Salary Range: $133,100.00 - $199,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
