Responsibilities:Clinical Leadership- Provide oversight for daily operations of surgical nursing units, including OR, PACU, and pre/post-operative care.
- Ensure delivery of safe, evidence-based, patient-centered care.
- Maintain clinical competency and support best practices in surgical nursing.
- Participate in direct patient care as needed due to staffing or acuity demands.
Staff Management & Development- Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate nursing staff.
- Develop staffing schedules that align with patient census and acuity in a rural setting.
- Mentor and coach nursing personnel to support professional growth.
- Promote staff engagement, retention, and a positive workplace culture.
Operational Management- Oversee departmental budgets, resource allocation, and cost control.
- Monitor productivity, patient flow, and efficiency of surgical services.
- Ensure equipment and supply availability, with attention to rural resource limitations.
- Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary teams.
Qualifications:- Licensure: State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License or Graduate Nurse Permit required
- BLS required.
- BSN required
- Degree from accredited academic nursing program (If a program is under conditional status, approval may be granted by system CNO)
