Full Job Description
The Supply Chain & Procurement Manager is responsible for leading strategic sourcing, supplier management, procurement operations, and a growing team of procurement professionals. This role builds on the expertise of a Senior Buyer, adding leadership oversight, process ownership, and cross-functional influence. The Manager will drive category strategy, optimize cost and supply continuity, develop supplier partnerships, and ensure alignment with corporate objectives. This position plays a critical role in supporting operational readiness, long-term procurement strategy, and the successful scale-up of factory operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of buyers and procurement specialists, providing coaching, performance feedback, and career development.
• Allocate workload, set priorities, and ensure timely completion of procurement activities.
• Build a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and ethical sourcing within the procurement function.
Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management
• Develop and execute global and regional sourcing strategies to support operational and financial objectives.
• Lead complex negotiations to secure favorable pricing, terms, quality, and long-term supply assurance.
• Establish supplier scorecards, oversee performance reviews, and implement corrective actions when needed.
• Identify, qualify, and onboard new suppliers to support technology, cost, and capacity requirements.
Procurement Operations & Process Improvement
• Oversee end-to-end procurement processes, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and alignment with internal controls.
• Lead initiatives to enhance procurement systems (SAP/MRP), workflows, automation tools, and reporting capabilities.
• Develop category playbooks, standardized procedures, and procurement best practices.
• Partner with Inventory, Planning, and Operations teams to optimize supply chain performance, VMI, JIT, and risk mitigation strategies.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Collaborate closely with Engineering, Operations, Finance, Legal, and Corporate Procurement to support new product introduction, cost modeling, budgeting, and contract review.
• Support strategic projects, factory readiness efforts, and corporate alignment on global sourcing initiatives.
• Participate in cross-functional business reviews and present procurement strategies, supplier KPIs, cost savings, and risk assessments.
Data & Financial Analysis
• Conduct market research, cost analysis, and benchmarking to identify opportunities for cost reduction and supply optimization.
• Prepare and deliver reports on procurement metrics, compliance, supplier health, and category spending.
• Support financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting related to procurement activities.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management, including senior-level buying responsibilities.
• 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred (team lead, mentoring, or indirect management acceptable).
• Proven success in high-level supplier negotiations and cost-saving initiatives.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and strategic problem-solving skills.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP preferred).
• Proficiency in procurement platforms (SAP, Oracle, Coupa) and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of VMI, JIT, supply planning, and global sourcing practices.
• Excellent communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills.
• Understanding of contract law and procurement compliance standards.
• Relevant certifications (CPSM, CSCP, PMP) are a plus.
• Bi-lingual language skills are a plus.
Travel Requirements
• 10-30% international travel required for collaboration with corporate procurement teams and key global suppliers.
• Must be able to travel overseas without restrictions.
• This role requires a ~3 month assignment in Amkor Technology Korea to learn and benchmark procurement strategy and operations.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in semiconductor manufacturing, advanced manufacturing, or a similar high-tech industry.
• Familiarity with sustainability and ESG-based procurement practices.
• Advanced Excel capabilities and experience with analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
• Experience leading category strategy development for complex materials or equipment.
Location: This position will be based at the Arizona Tempe and Peoria sites during the Construction phase and will transition to Peoria for management during the Factory Operation phase.
