Job Summary

The Supply Chain Functional Excellence Manager is a senior leadership role that sets the strategic direction and operational framework for continuous improvement, process governance, and capability advancement across Freeport LNG's Supply Chain function. This leader will manage a team and serve as the organization's primary Supply Chain transformation executive, working alongside Supply Chain leadership, cross-functional senior leaders, and external stakeholders to deliver measurable gains in procurement efficiency, contract performance, inventory optimization, logistics reliability, and digital enablement. Success in this role requires deep supply chain expertise spanning strategy and policy, organizational capability, process and systems design, and performance management.

Location/Travel Information

This position is primarily office-based at Freeport LNG's Houston corporate office, with periodic site visits to the Quintana Island LNG terminal. Some domestic travel may be required to support supplier meetings, industry conferences, and project activities.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions

Strategic Leadership & Supply Chain Transformation
  • Define and own the Supply Chain Functional Excellence roadmap, aligning improvement initiatives with Freeport LNG's operational strategy, business plan, and long-term growth objectives.
  • Advise the Director of Supply Chain and executive leadership on supply chain maturity, industry benchmarking, emerging best practices, and organizational capability gaps.
  • Lead enterprise-wide supply chain transformation programs spanning process redesign, system implementations, organizational change management, and culture-building.
  • Build and manage a multi-year supply chain improvement portfolio, prioritizing initiatives by value, risk, and strategic alignment, and reporting progress to senior leadership on a regular cadence.

Team Leadership & Talent Development
  • Directly manage, mentor, and develop a team by setting clear performance expectations, fostering a culture of accountability, and actively supporting each member's professional growth.
  • Build and sustain a high-performing functional excellence team through thoughtful hiring, structured onboarding, ongoing coaching, and proactive succession planning.
  • Embody and champion Freeport LNG's values of safety, integrity, operational excellence, and collaboration in all team activities and stakeholder engagements.
  • Design competency frameworks and career pathways for supply chain roles across the organization, partnering with HR to embed these into broader talent management programs.

Process Governance & Continuous Improvement
  • Establish and govern a robust supply chain process management framework-covering SOPs, policy documentation, internal controls, and a continuous review cycle-to sustain compliance and operational relevance.
  • Drive the adoption of Lean, Six Sigma, and related process improvement methodologies across procurement, contracting, inventory, and logistics to eliminate waste and reduce total cost.
  • Facilitate cross-functional process improvement workshops, kaizen events, and value stream mapping exercises, ensuring measurable outcomes are tracked and sustained after implementation.
  • Maintain the supply chain procedures library and governance calendar, keeping all documentation current, accessible, and aligned with regulatory requirements and operational realities.

Performance Management & Executive Reporting
  • Own the design and governance of the supply chain KPI framework, with metrics spanning procurement efficiency, contract compliance, supplier performance, inventory accuracy, and logistics reliability.
  • Deliver timely, accurate, and actionable supply chain performance reporting to executive leadership, including monthly operational scorecards, quarterly business reviews, and board-level materials.
  • Champion data-driven decision-making across the supply chain function by advancing analytics capabilities, Power BI dashboards, and predictive modeling tools.
  • Conduct root cause analyses for significant supply chain performance deviations and lead the development and execution of corrective action plans.

Digital Enablement & Systems Strategy
  • Shape the supply chain systems strategy by partnering with IT, digital, and operations teams to evaluate, prioritize, and implement technologies that strengthen supply chain capability and efficiency.
  • Serve as executive business owner for ERP (SAP S/4HANA or equivalent) and supply chain management platforms, ensuring alignment between system design, business process, and data governance.
  • Develop business cases and secure executive sponsorship for major supply chain technology investments, including automation, AI/ML applications, and procurement platforms.
  • Lead change management and training programs for new system implementations and digital tool rollouts.

Compliance, Risk Management & Governance
  • Ensure supply chain processes, controls, and documentation satisfy all applicable regulatory requirements, including FERC, DOT, and company governance standards.
  • Lead supply chain risk identification, assessment, and mitigation planning across areas such as supplier concentration, critical spare availability, logistics disruption, and geopolitical exposure.
  • Represent the supply chain function in internal and external audits, regulatory reviews, and governance committee meetings.
  • Build and maintain supply chain business continuity plans and resilience strategies for critical materials, services, and logistics pathways.

Stakeholder Engagement & Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Cultivate strong partnerships with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Projects, Finance, Quality, Legal, and HSE to ensure supply chain strategies are integrated with broader organizational priorities.
  • Serve as a visible champion for supply chain excellence across Freeport LNG, engaging operations and maintenance leadership to surface opportunities where supply chain can create greater value.
  • Represent Freeport LNG at industry conferences, supplier forums, and professional associations to stay current with market trends and strengthen the company's standing in the LNG supply chain community.


Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a closely related field required.
  • Master's degree (MBA or MS in Supply Chain) preferred.
  • CPSM, CPIM, PMP, or Lean/Six Sigma certification strongly preferred.

Experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive supply chain experience, with at least 4 years in a people management or senior leadership capacity.
  • Experience in the LNG, Oil & Gas, Energy, or heavy industrial sector strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading Supply Chain functional excellence, process improvement, or transformation programs with measurable, enterprise-scale outcomes.
  • Proven track record managing cross-functional teams and influencing at the executive level in a complex, matrixed organization.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems (SAP S/4HANA or SAP MM preferred) and supply chain analytics tools (Power BI).
