Position at The Port Authority of NY & NJ

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Manager, Airport Facilities Projects, the successful candidate's responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

Responsibilities
  • Managing the Line Department portion of the Agency's Structural Integrity Program for EWR and TEB
  • Ensuring that all facility staff inspections are performed in a timely fashion, deficiencies are communicated to the responsible parties, and appropriate records are maintained
  • Working with QAD to address facility emergencies as well as its cyclical inspection program
  • Acting on behalf of and coordinating with the maintenance units in the Emergency Operations Center during emergencies, including snow events
  • Assisting with the development of project listings and budgets for Operating Major Work Programs for EWR and TEB, including organization and monthly tracking of all facility projects (Core, Redevelopment, OS, Security, and TCAP) for EWR and TEB
  • Coordinating and providing representation for EWR and TEB with Engineering, in concert with the EWR Project Management Group, to ensure that design and construction issues are satisfactorily resolved
  • Reviewing Engineering design drawings and providing comments to Project Management for all program facility projects (Core, Redevelopment, OS, Security, and TCAP) for EWR and TEB
  • Preparing repair cost data for PA property damage and providing it to the Law Department

Minimum Qualifications
  • Applicants must meet all performance and attendance standards and have completed all probationary periods
  • A minimum of 3 plus years of relevant work experience
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Structural Engineering, Architecture, or a related field
  • Experience in inspection of structures, facility maintenance, project management, budget development, and/or asset management
  • Experience managing multiple projects and coordinating design efforts and/or construction activities
  • Must have a valid Driver's License
  • Successful candidate must be able to pass a fingerprint-based, Criminal History Records Check (CHRC), mandated by 49 CFR Part 1542, and will be required to qualify for and maintain an airport Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) credential with Airfield Non-Movement Area Driving and Escort Privileges.

Desired Qualifications
  • Structural design experience
  • Experience with engineering projects related to the transportation field (for example, aviation)
  • Demonstrated ability to develop complex strategies and represent the needs of EWR and TEB to the Agency and Aviation Department to achieve broad business goals in airport maintenance, facilities, asset management, and airport redevelopment, while understanding the impact on various stakeholders within and outside the PA
  • Experience and demonstrated ability in establishing and managing a Capital and Major Work Program for a complex facility
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Port Authority's TCAP process and PA code compliance review procedures
  • Demonstrated experience with, and knowledge of, Port Authority procedures and capital authorization processes related to project development, implementation, and management
  • Demonstrated knowledge of PA policies and procedures related to project management systems
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate design efforts and/or construction activitie
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including demonstrated experience interacting with diverse groups such as engineering, maintenance, tenants, vendors, and executive management within and outside the Port AuthoritySuperior oral, written, and presentation skills

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey anticipate that the actual salary offered to a successful candidate will depend on aspects such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and internal factors. The expected compensation range for this role is:
Minimum: $ 106,392 Midpoint: $ 138,297 Maximum: $ 170,222
In accordance with Port Authority policy, this position permits employees to work remotely a maximum of one day per week, subject to operational and business needs.
