DescriptionThe Structural Analysis Engineering Manager will be responsible for the leadership, direct supervision, and employee development of a technical staff of 10+ structural analysis engineers working on Regional Strike Launcher hardware. Primary structural engineering group responsibilities include:
- Analyzing, researching and developing structural engineering specifications involving metals, non-metallic or composite structural materials for product design
- Analyzing product designs for damage tolerance, durability and design allowables in specific structural engineering specialties including transient shock, vibration, operational loads, fatigue, and thermal analysis
- Providing technical, cost and schedule performance oversight of multiple projects, including cost account management (CAM)
- Reviewing and approving proposal estimates for new structural and acoustic work
- Developing and implementing employee career development, knowledge sharing and training plans
- Maintaining proper levels of staffing through forecasting and recruiting
- Supporting strategic planning
- Championing continuous process improvements
Tools typically utilized include NX, TeamCenter, Nastran, Abaqus, HyperMesh, MS Office suite and MS Project.
Basic Qualifications:
An engineering degree is required with 5+ years of related engineering experience. A government secret clearance will be required. Additional qualifications include:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and military specifications
- Ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions
- Able to collaborate in a team environment
- Ability to negotiate and integrate different viewpoints
- Able to supervise and prioritize multiple projects on schedule and within cost
- Ability to make decisions that impact on the organization’s credibility, operations and services
- Able to prepare and analyze data and figures and compose materials such as detailed reports, work‐related manuals, publications, etc.
- Ability to develop and present material to those outside the immediate work function, to all levels of the organization, and to a variety of external customers
- Must be a US Citizen
- Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Engineering with 10+ years of related engineering experience
- A strong background in the following analysis codes: Nastran, Abaqus, LS-DYNA
- A strong background in the following standards: MIL-S-901, MIL-STD-167, MIL-STD-22, S9074-AR-GIB-10_278, PPD [redacted], Naval Shipboard Piping Structural Design Manual, British Standard 7608, ASME Section VIII, Division 2, API 579/ASME FFS, AISC Manual.
Primary Level Salary Range: $139,100.00 - $241,700.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
