DescriptionNorthrop Grumman's Space Sector is seeking a
Software Engineering Manager - Level 2 to join our team in
Colorado Springs, CO. This position is within the Space Systems Central Engineering SW and Electronics Organization supporting the Deep Space Advance Radar Capability (DARC) program. The selected individual will manage up to 15 direct reports and serve as an individual contributor, SW product owner, or SW team lead within the DARC program.
The ideal candidate will have experience developing, integrating, and debugging software applications on complicated systems and diverse programming languages is key. The successful candidate must also possess leadership characteristics that enables successful team outcomes, growth of the organization, and the development of innovative solutions to difficult problems. Excellent organization skills, and the ability to collaborate with various disciplines and program functions to successfully execute program objectives is a must. Previous ground-based RADAR, microservices based software architectures, and people management experience is preferred. The selected individual will manage up to 15 direct reports and serve as an individual contributor, software product owner, or software team lead within the DARC program.
This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.
In this job, you will:- Directly contribute to the software development, integration, testing, sustainment, and process improvement efforts on the DARC program
- Collaborate with cross-functional discipline leads and program management to develop, plan, and execute current and future project efforts of the program
- Manage and support staff career development
- Ensure software Engineer staff have the proper tools, training, and assignments required to meet program objectives
- Support proposal efforts and develop software engineering labor estimates
- Be responsible for hiring and staffing actions
- Employee performance management
- Brief program and customer leadership

Basic Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree with 10 years of professional experience in a STEM field - OR - Master's degree with 8 years of professional experience in a STEM field.
- Requires an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope
- Recent software development experience within microservice based architectures
- Expert in Agile software development principles
- Fluent in a variety of software programing languages (i.e, Java, Java Script, C++, Python)
- Ability to deploy and debug code
- Ability to develop software requirement specifications
- Experience across the entire software product life cycle
- Atlassian Tool Set (JIRA, Confluence)
PreferredQualifications: - Active Top-Secret Clearance
- Computer Science or Computer Engineering degree
- Current or previous functional management experience
- Experience with proposal efforts and software labor estimating
- Experience developing software development on RADAR programs
- Radar Signal Processing knowledge and algorithm implementation
- Familiar with DevSecOps principles
- Familiar with real time processing
- Familiar with software cybersecurity compliance
- software development within a RedHat Linux environment
- MBSE principals

Primary Level Salary Range: $146,500.00 - $219,700.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
