Job Description

As part of our expert team, you'll have the opportunity to ensure operational excellence that makes a real difference in patient safety. As a Senior Manager Safety Admin, you'll oversee operations of multiple safety administration teams, providing technical expertise, coaching, training, and guidance. You will provide oversight for various programs and vendor services and manage contracted safety services for one or more projects, including resourcing, budgeting, and procedural compliance. You will lead departmental initiatives and strategically collaborate with department leadership to develop consistent internal processes.

What You'll Do:
  • Acts as the primary point of contact on multiple global projects, ensuring contract, procedure and budget compliance through effective communication with project managers, internal teams, cross-functional groups and clients (as applicable).
  • Manages day-to-day department operations, both locally and globally, and exercises independent judgement to troubleshoot and resolve project issues and identity areas for improvement. Provides direct supervision to department managers and their teams as needed.
  • Provides accurate forecasts for all projects, analyzing safety management costs, personnel hours, and project needs to ensure budget compliance.
  • Manages and coordinates project start-up activities, project maintenance and project close-out.
  • Oversees the department's Incoming Information Center and associated vendors, including but not limited to the management of procedural and contractual adherence as well as troubleshooting and issue resolution.
  • Acts as a resource to other departmental managers for all safety administration tasks and collaborates to problem solve and develop system improvements; ensuring utilization of assigned administration team.
  • Leads departmental initiatives and develops WPDs and SOPs, ensuring consistency and quality in execution and implementation.
  • Coordinates business continuity activities as required in the event of system downtime, adverse weather or disaster.
  • Manages staff, which may include interviewing and selection, job description preparation, professional development, goal setting, performance management, coaching and mentoring, employee counseling, and separations. Approves courses of action on salary administration, hiring, corrective action, and terminations. Reviews and approves time records.


Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification
  • Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable 5+ years).
  • 1+ year of leadership responsibility


In some cases an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent knowledge of global regulatory requirements and the importance of and compliance with organizational processes and procedures
  • Solid project management skills, including financial management
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficient IT skills to include: MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), Safety Databases, and the ability to create and design reports
  • Proven ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously, to meet rigorous timelines and work effectively in stressful situations
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Advanced critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Proven ability to manage, motivate, mentor and supervise a diverse team across multiple regions and utilize the talents and abilities of all direct reports
  • Comprehensive knowledge of medical and safety terminology
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively delegate tasks and follow-up on adequate completion
