Responsibilities

  • Oversee revenue recognition according to ASC 606, including contract reviews and documentation.
  • Manage month-end close activities related to revenue, including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Support revenue forecasting, budgeting, and tracking of KPIs with FP&A and business leaders.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Customer Success, Legal, and Deal Desk on revenue accuracy and compliance.
  • Lead and mentor the revenue accounting team, setting priorities and providing feedback.
  • Act as the primary contact for auditors on revenue matters and ensure SOX compliance.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and support strategic initiatives.

Job Description Summary:

ModMed is seeking a Manager, Accounting - Revenue who will be responsible for overseeing revenue accounting, reporting, and analysis to ensure accuracy, compliance with U.S. GAAP (ASC 606), and alignment with business objectives. This role partners cross-functionally to translate commercial activity into reliable financial outcomes while leading and developing a high-performing revenue accounting team.

Your Role:

Revenue Recognition & Compliance:

Oversee revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606, including review of customer contracts, amendments, and complex arrangements; ensure appropriate accounting treatment and documentation.

Month-End Close & Reporting:

Manage revenue-related close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, and preparation of management and external reporting.

Forecasting, Budgeting & KPI Management:

Partner with FP&A and business leaders to support revenue forecasting, budgeting, and tracking of specialty-level KPIs such as ARR, churn, and net revenue retention.

Cross-Functional Partnership & Deal Support

Collaborate with Sales, Customer Success, Legal, and Deal Desk on deal structuring, pricing changes, and contract reviews to ensure revenue accuracy and compliance.

Team Leadership & Development Lead:

Mentor, and review the work of revenue accountants and analysts; set priorities, provide feedback, and support career development.

Audit, Controls & Risk Management:

Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external auditors on revenue matters; maintain and enhance internal controls and SOX compliance where applicable.

Process Improvement & Strategic Projects:

Identify and implement improvements to systems, processes, and reporting; support M&A, system implementations, and other strategic initiatives.

Skills & Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
  • Minimum: 7+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience with revenue exposure
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, specifically ASC 606
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills
  • Experience with NetSuite and BI/forecasting tools (preferred)
  • Proven leadership and cross-functional influence
  • Preferred: 3-5+ years in SaaS or technology companies; prior audit experience
  • Active CPA license, preferred
