SummaryManages the daily operations of the Respiratory Care Department, in conjunction with the Director. Identifies actual and potential problems which affect the operations of respiratory care and takes appropriate corrective action as necessary. Oversees respiratory personnel to meet patient demands as well as mentors and supports respiratory coordinators and respiratory staff to facilitate quality and effective patient care.
Job Duties- Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the care for designated patients in respiratory care.
- Assumes unit, clinical, and administrative responsibilities in the absence of leadership.
- Assesses ventilator concerns and appropriately intervenes.
- Participates in coaching, counseling, and mentoring of unit personnel on issues related to respiratory care.
- Assists in monitoring vacancy and turnover rates and implements unit programs to achieve minimal vacancies and reduce turnover.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy, Respiratory Care, health sciences, health administration, business administration, or related field.
- 2 years Experience in a respiratory therapy leadership role. and
- 5 years Experience as a Respiratory Therapist
- Basic computer skills.
- Demonstrates a strong ability to identify, analyze, and solve problems.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support - State of Pennsylvania within 180 Days
- CRT - Certified Respiratory Therapist - National Board for Respiratory Care within 2 Years
- RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist - National Board for Respiratory Care Upon Hire
Preferred Qualifications- Master's Degree in Respiratory Therapy, Respiratory Care, health sciences, health administration, business administration, or related field.
- 2 years Respiratory therapy leadership role in an acute care setting.
- RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist - National Board for Respiratory Care within 1 Year
Physical DemandsLift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
