What You’ll Do:
The Regional Safety Manager ensures the safety, compliance, and efficient operation of the company’s fleet across multiple regions. This role is responsible for developing safety programs, training drivers, monitoring performance, and managing accident prevention. The position is domiciled in South Plainfield, NJ, and requires travel across the United States to conduct site-level audits, training, monitoring, and program implementations.
Essential Functions
• Audit and maintain Driver Qualification Files at the site level to ensure complete accuracy.
• Ensure the fleet complies with all local, state, and federal transportation laws, including Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations.
• Maintain detailed safety records and prepare compliance reports for executive management and regulatory requirements.
• Other essential duties may be applicable and assigned as necessary.
Program Development & Risk Mitigation
• Create, implement, and maintain transportation safety policies and procedures for drivers and maintenance staff.
• Identify potential operating hazards and develop proactive strategies to mitigate risks, injuries, and liability.
• Oversee the regional budget for safety programs to ensure resources are allocated effectively.
Driver Training & Performance Monitoring
• Conduct site-level safety training, defensive driving courses, and hazard awareness programs.
• Monitor driver performance, track hours of service (HOS), review violations, and issue corrective actions.
• Leverage telematics and safety technologies to monitor real-time driving behavior and vehicle performance.
Accident Investigation & Maintenance Oversight
• Investigate fleet accidents, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Consult with insurance companies, law enforcement, and regulatory agencies during post-accident inquiries.
• Collaborate with local fleet managers to ensure vehicles are properly maintained and safety inspections are completed.
What Experience and Education You Need
• 5 years of experience in fleet operations, transportation safety, or regional safety management.
• Proven, hands-on experience managing driver profiles and compliance workflows
• Knowledge of safety training management and state/federal standards and regulations required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project required.

• Bachelor’s degree in safety management, Transportation, Logistics, or a related field preferred.
• Ability to manage company-wide program deployment.
• Project management skills to maintain project timelines.
• Effective verbal and written communication.
• Ability to communicate professionally with all levels of the organization.

Physical Requirements
• Able to work in spaces with 55 inches (1.4 meters) of headroom.
• Able to tolerate working environment with inside controlled temperatures varying from 32 degrees Fahrenheit (0 degrees Celsius) to minus 45 (-45) degrees Fahrenheit (-43 degrees Celsius), as well as outside ambient temperatures (including heat, cold and precipitation).
• Able to climb ladders or step ladders.
• Able to tolerate heights up to 30 ft. (9 meters) and be able to access elevated products from inside safety cage.
• Able to wear personal protective equipment required for working at heights and in cold temperatures.
• Able to stand and/or walk continuously or frequently over an 8-10-12 hour shift. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Able to frequently step up/on or step down/off to mount and dismount material handling equipment.
• Able to perform fine articulation movements with fingers/hands and/or feet to operate equipment.
• Depending on specific role, must be able to lift boxes of varying weights up 80 lbs. (36 kg) and carry product a distance of up to 6 ft.(2 meters) without mechanical assistance.
• Able to meet specific vision abilities required by this job, including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Able to hear and speak in order to comprehend, respond to, and provide instructions and safety warnings, as well as able to read and understand packaging, shipping documents, and safety guidelines.
The Company’s good-faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting for this position is $100,500 - $125,000 annually. Rate may vary based on work location.”
