Full Job Description
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Purchasing Manager is responsible for the procurement and supply continuity of DrinkPAK-procured direct materials supporting manufacturing operations. This role combines strategic purchasing responsibilities with hands-on execution, making it ideal for an experienced purchasing professional who enjoys both developing processes and managing daily purchasing activities.

Reporting to the Director of Procurement, this individual will initially function as both the Purchasing Manager and primary Buyer for assigned categories. As the procurement organization evolves, this role will play a key part in establishing purchasing best practices, developing scalable processes, and helping build the future purchasing team.

The ideal candidate has experience in a high-volume, fast-paced manufacturing environment and is comfortable managing multiple priorities while ensuring uninterrupted material supply. This individual is highly organized, analytical, collaborative, and thrives in a dynamic production environment where speed, accuracy, and proactive communication are critical to success.

LOCATION: The position is based at DrinkPak's Headquarters in Santa Clarita, California.

TYPE: Full Time; Salaried / Exempt.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage the day-to-day purchasing of DrinkPAK-procured direct materials to ensure uninterrupted production.
  • Create, release, and manage purchase orders while maintaining accurate pricing, lead times, and supplier data within the ERP system.
  • Monitor material availability and proactively manage supply risks, shortages, and expedites to support production schedules.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while driving supplier performance in delivery, quality, and service.
  • Partner with Planning, Operations, Quality, Warehouse, and Finance to align purchasing activities with business needs.
  • Support supplier negotiations for pricing, lead times, and commercial terms in partnership with the Director of Procurement.
  • Analyze inventory levels, demand signals, and supplier performance to optimize inventory and material availability.
  • Resolve supplier delivery, quality, and invoice discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Develop and implement standardized purchasing processes, reporting, and best practices as the procurement organization continues to grow.
  • Identify and execute continuous improvement opportunities that reduce cost, improve efficiency, and strengthen supply continuity.
  • Track and report purchasing KPIs including supplier on-time delivery, inventory health, purchase order execution, and material availability.
  • Serve as the primary purchasing resource for assigned categories while helping build the foundation for a scalable purchasing organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of purchasing or procurement experience supporting direct materials in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working in a high-volume, fast-paced manufacturing environment with rapidly changing priorities.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple suppliers, competing priorities, and tight production timelines.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems to manage purchasing activities.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong cross-functional and supplier relationships.

Preferred
  • Experience in the beverage, food, consumer packaged goods (CPG), packaging, or contract manufacturing industries.
  • Experience supporting high-growth manufacturing organizations.
  • Experience helping develop purchasing processes and scalable procurement operations.
  • CPSM, CPM, APICS, or other relevant supply chain certification.

Base Salary Compensation Range: $115k-$135k
