Job Description

Manage the Project Engineering group. The team provides engineering services to all new, existing facilities and pipelines used in the gathering, processing, and transportation of CO2, natural gas and crude oil. Group responsibilities include planning, design review, and implementation.

Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities:
• Manage the group engineering workload on projects involving CO2, natural gas and crude oil gathering, transmission, processing, and compression.
• Provide direct engineering support on all capital projects.
• Lead effort in maintaining Tallgrass' Engineering Standards, Construction Standards, and Drawing Standards. Help ensure these standards/procedures are compliant with regulations.
• Coordinate activities with other business units such as Project Management, Operations, System Design, Business Development, Engineering Contractors, etc.
• Assist with departmental and project related budgeting and planning.
• Works with project team throughout design and construction, and ensure plans align with budget and design factors.
• Supports implementation of solutions through project life cycles: feasibility, FEL stages, FEED, detailed design, EPC and knowledge sharing.
• Reviews development proposals, projects, timelines, resources, and costs.
• Manages outsourcing budgets, vendors, or other external resources.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to establish an effective and cooperative team environment.
• Communicate regular status reports on a variety of projects
• Participate in the review of 3rd party connection agreements to ensure equitable transactions from a design and operational perspective.
• Provide technical support as needed during working and non-working hours
• Deal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy and professionalism.
• Collaborate with management to develop short and long-term continuous improvement planning. Track and manage strategic planning on an ongoing basis.
• Responsible for performance management for all engineering direct reports. Work with employees to set employee goals and develop strategies to assist each employee in the attainment of those goals.
• Keep abreast of industry trends, technology, and changes. Participate in industry organizations as necessary.
• Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and a consistently high level of performance.
• Will work non-traditional hours as needed.
• Maintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.
• Leads all aspects of conventional process design engineering and analysis.
• Other daily, weekly, monthly or special project duties as identified and defined.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements:

Education:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Engineering.

Experience/Specific Knowledge:
• A minimum of 10 years direct work experience in the energy industry.
• Advanced proficiency level in MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Experience working multi-functional, multi-cultural teams.

Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).

Competencies, Skills & Abilities:
• Strong project coordination, planning and overall management skills
• Knowledge and experience in the design and operation for CO2, natural gas and oil facilities, including compressor/pump stations, storage facilities, and processing facilities.
• Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage multiple groups comprised of professionals with varying disciplines, backgrounds, and experience levels.
• Excellent customer service skills and ability to work with all levels of management as well as employees in corporate and field offices
• Experience developing and managing budgets.
• The individual must be self-motivated and willing to learn new and changing technologies.

Compensation: Compensation ranges are provided in good faith based on what we anticipate when researching wages for this position at the state and national levels. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This salary range may also be modified in the future.
