Job Description:

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a(n) Manager, Product Stewardship EPR, Regulatory - Other, located in Raynham, MA, West Chester, PA, Warsaw, IN, Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Leeds, UK or Cork, Ireland.

The Manager, Product Stewardship EPR, is responsible for leading product stewardship and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulatory activities to ensure compliance with applicable environmental, sustainability, and product-related regulations. This role partners closely with Regulatory Affairs, Quality, Supply Chain, and Sustainability teams to support compliant product lifecycle management and corporate responsibility objectives. The position plays a key role in managing regulatory risk, enabling sustainable practices, and supporting DePuy Synthes' global compliance commitments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage product stewardship and EPR regulatory activities to ensure compliance with applicable global, regional, and local regulations.
  • Interpret and apply environmental, product stewardship, and sustainability-related regulatory requirements to products and operations.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert on EPR obligations, including reporting, registrations, and compliance documentation.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (Regulatory Affairs, Quality, Supply Chain, Legal, Sustainability) to support compliant product lifecycle activities.
  • Monitor changes in product stewardship and environmental regulations and assess potential business impact.
  • Support regulatory audits, inspections, and information requests related to product stewardship and EPR.
  • Develop and maintain regulatory documentation, records, and internal guidance related to product stewardship compliance.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen regulatory compliance and sustainability processes.


Qualifications

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Regulatory Affairs, Environmental Science, Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related discipline (required).
  • Advanced degree or professional certification in Regulatory Affairs, Environmental Compliance, or Sustainability (preferred).


Experience and Skills:

Required:
  • Typically 6-8 years of progressive experience in regulatory affairs, product stewardship, environmental compliance, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of product stewardship, EPR, and environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Experience interpreting regulations and applying requirements to product and business decisions.
  • Ability to manage complex regulatory topics across multiple stakeholders and functions.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred:
  • Experience supporting global or multi-regional regulatory portfolios.
  • Familiarity with sustainability, environmental reporting, or circular economy initiatives.
  • Experience working in a multinational or matrixed organization.
  • Exposure to regulatory audits or inspections related to environmental or product compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience driving regulatory or compliance process improvements.


Other:
  • Language: English required.
  • Travel: Limited; primarily domestic with occasional international collaboration.
  • Certifications: RAC, environmental compliance, or sustainability certifications preferred but not required.

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company's consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)). This position is eligible to participate in the Company's long-term incentive program.
