National Grid is hiring a Manager, Portfolio Planning CMS. This hybrid role sits in our Waltham, MA office and will travel to various sites within MA.

Job Purpose

As Manager, Portfolio Planning & CMS Program Compliance, you will help shape how National Grid plans, prioritizes, and delivers some of its most important compliance and customer-facing work. In this highly visible role, you will bring together CMS compliance, inspection, remediation, meter change, regulator, and appointment-driven programs into a clear, integrated view of performance, risk, resources, timing, and customer impact.

This is a great opportunity for a collaborative, data-driven leader who enjoys solving complex problems, building strong partnerships, and turning insights into action. You will work closely with Field Operations, Customer, IT, Dispatch/Scheduling, Finance, Resource Planning, Analytics, Regulatory, Asset Management, and senior leadership to strengthen governance routines, remove barriers, and keep mandated work on track. In this role, your impact will be seen in stronger compliance confidence, better meter change execution, improved portfolio predictability, clearer field and customer coordination, and decision-ready reporting that highlights risks, impacts, and corrective actions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, finance, operations, data analytics, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • Ideally brings 5+ years of experience in portfolio planning, resource planning, program management, project management, utility operations, capital planning, compliance program management, or regulatory program delivery.
  • Brings, or is eager to build, a strong understanding of CMS, gas operations, field execution, mandated inspection / remediation programs, appointment-driven work, meter change delivery, and utility compliance programs.
  • Thrives in ambiguous environments and can influence cross-functional decisions while building alignment across operational, customer, IT, finance, regulatory, and executive stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of workplan development, capacity planning, scheduling, portfolio governance, forecast management, cost / unit performance, risk management, and executive reporting.
  • Uses data and analytics to spot performance gaps, develop practical corrective actions, and explain business impacts clearly and succinctly.
  • Communicates clearly and confidently, translating complex operational, compliance, and portfolio issues into concise recommendations for leadership.
  • Leads and develops people through clear objectives, coaching, accountability, recognition, and a commitment to continuous growth.

Salary

New England MA $142,000 - $167,000 a year
