Job Description X-energy LLC is hiring a Plant & Process System Manager. This position is responsible for providing leadership and management/technical oversight to the team of engineers designing and developing plant layout, piping arrangements, and system processes. This role manages a team of engineers of various disciplines that direct the technical requirements and configuration of the layout, piping arrangements, and system processes of the plant through all project life cycle phases.

Job Profile Tasks/Responsibilities

  • Manages the execution of the designing and developing plant mechanical systems using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
  • Manages the identification and mitigation of design conflicts using 3D software.
  • Manages the utilization of engineering resources across multiple projects and ensures qualified engineers are performing assigned work.
  • Oversee project design cycle sprints to ensure the convergence of efforts of engineering team members, partners, and suppliers to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality engineering work products are on schedule as defined by the Project leadership.
  • Manages engineering staff by ensuring staff are meeting expectations and promoting staff professional development.
  • Supports the Business Development workgroup providing technical resources when needed and engaging with potential future clients to promote marketing of the X-energy products and/or technologies.
  • Influences the development of strategy, methodology and technical tools for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and policy formulation.
  • Interprets internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes, tools, or services.
  • Uses high level of judgement to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operations, project management, technology, or engineering.
  • Assesses quality of information given and asks pertinent questions to stakeholders.
  • Offers new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and can construct and provide recommendations.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary engineering team to create the next generation nuclear power plants.
  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with design control procedures, ensuring thorough documentation of work, and control of product design configuration data.
  • Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by direct manager.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or systems engineering or related discipline from an accredited university or college.
  • Typically, ten years of engineering experience. Graduate degrees typically count as two plus years of experience.
  • Requires specialized knowledge within the function of mechanical engineering or systems engineering, related to system requirements, system physical architecture, integrated system design, technical data management, and technical risk management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in managing the development of integrated power plant mechanical systems.
  • Experience working on large EPC or EP projects.
  • Experience working in the nuclear industry.
  • Experience leading and mentoring design engineers.
  • Knowledge of ASME piping and pressure vessel codes (e.g., B31.1 and ASME BPVC).

Location: 9801 Washingtonian Blvd, Gaithersburg, MD

Work Schedule: 4 days a week in office

Travel Expectations: Up to 10% as needed

Hours: 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday

Compensation

Offers within the posted salary range are commensurate with the individual’s qualifications for the position, along with a view on internal equity, market data, and room for growth. The salary range for this position is:

$162,500- $207,500
