JOB DESCRIPTIONGENERAL FUNCTIONThe Planning Manager creates and analyzes the performance within their categories; plans OTB and manages inventory to achieve financial objectives of the department (sales mix, inventory turn, initial markup, AUR). Provides the analytical and process oriented skill set to complement the Cateogry Managers product/assortment knowledge and cooperatively manages the department, acts as the CFO of the team. The Planning Manager partners and indirectly leads a cross-functional peer group in the execution of the seasonal plan; establishing financial goals and outlining the expectations for the team.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Prepares monthly financial forecasts and provides them to the Finance Department for profitability analysis each quarter.
- Projects inventory ownership based on forecasted sales, planned purchases and other adjustments and provides them to Finance Department for capital analysis and budgeting.
- Analyzes impact of retail price increases and overall department markup, average dollar sale and gross profit and provides to Product Management team to assist with pricing decisions and Financial Planning department for profitability analysis.
- Forecasts monthly department/classification sales based on seasonality, trends and TY/LY analysis.
- Provides key analysis/direction on vendor and collection forecast that results in assortment changes to Product Manager.
- Supplies upper management with analysis of key performance indicators within department/classifications.
- Controls corporate expenditures on inventory through open-to-buy management.
- Manages purchasing process for items being sourced from alternate suppliers.
- Evaluates inventory supply to support promotional events and communicates issues to marketing representatives/upper management.
- Adjusts style/SKU rates of sale appropriately to account for stock outs.
- Determines proper Distribution Center supply levels by product, consistent with vendor shipping history. Works with Product Management team to evaluate supply levels based on individual style performance/status.
- Evaluates and prioritizes weekly Distribution Center receipts.
BASIC (REQUIRED) QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's degree or 5+ years of work experience in a specialty retail buying office; either as a Merchandise Planner, Location Planner, Allocator, Buyer or Financial Planner

- Proficient computer skills: Excel - ability/aptitude to learn/create complex spreadsheets using advance formulas (V-lookups, IF statements; pivot tables; macros)
- Able to communicate financial plans and results from a merchandise perspective
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills - able to extract conclusions from available data
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Apparel Design / Planning, Business, Mathmatics / Computer Science
- Previously directly managed a team of at least 2 planners
Pay Range: $101,233.35 - $149,307.95
