Job DescriptionYour Role The Clinical Pharmacy Programs team is responsible for the development, implementation, coordination, and assessment of pharmacy programs addressing medication therapy issues of Blue Shield of California members to improve quality and cost-effectiveness. The Manager, Pharmacist will report to the Pharmacist Senior Manager, Clinical Pharmacy Operations. In this role you will work with internal and external stakeholders to achieve shared goals and objectives that enhance BSC member and population health outcomes while optimizing healthcare resources, ensuring that members have access to pharmaceuticals they need, and that the medications they take are improving health and cost effective.
ResponsibilitiesYour Work In this role, you will:
- Responsible for managing daily operations and employees of the program area. Provides training, training opportunities, mentoring and coaching for direct reports
- Responsible for the development, implementation, coordination and assessment of programs addressing medication therapy issues of Blue Shield of California members to improve quality and cost-effectiveness
- Develops and analyzes prescription drug and medical claims data to identify opportunities to improve quality and cost of healthcare
- Develops project proposals for identified opportunities and supports implementation.
- Regularly monitors program data and metrics to evaluate program effectiveness and outcomes; reports to appropriate committees, managers, and other internal or external stakeholders
- Serve as a Pharmacy contact and subject matter expert to stakeholders, and manage external relationships (vendors, clients) related to assigned work
- Perform other duties as needed
QualificationsYour Knowledge and Experience - Requires a currently active and unrestricted California Registered Pharmacist (RPh) license
- Requires a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited school of pharmacy in the U.S
- Requires 7 years of experience in a managed care setting
- Requires 2 years of people management experience gained as a team leader, supervisor, project/program manager, or manager of contingent workers
- Requires excellent oral and written communication skills
- Requires strong project/program management, analytic, and critical thinking skills
- Requires thorough clinical knowledge of the therapeutic use of drugs
HybridThis role requires employees to be in-office based on our hybrid workplace model, balancing purposeful in-person collaboration with flexibility. For most teams, this means coming into the office two days each week.
Employees living more than 50 miles from an office location will work with their manager to determine in-office time based on business need.
