Job DescriptionInova Fair Oaks Hospital Anesthesiology is looking for a dedicated Manager, Perioperative Support to join the Team. This full-time role will be day-shift working Monday - Friday located in Fairfax, VA.
The Manager of Perioperative Support directs and manages all aspects of care relating to the support and environmental elements of Perioperative Services including staff performance/improvement, cost controls, budget preparation, and materials management. Ensures effective and timely procedural set-ups, transports, availability, and proper functioning of equipment as well as environmental cleaning and sanitation. Provides direction and management to direct reports and all department team members. Utilizes standards, guidelines, benchmarks (internal and external), and resources for the optimal delivery of care while incorporating data and practices to continually improve care and enhance outcomes.

Manager, Perioperative Support Responsibilities:- Oversees assigned department or functional area to ensure it is performing effectively, which may include but not limited to, hiring and training team members, creating and implementing business strategies, managing performance of team members, and delegating tasks.
- Monitors and adjusts staff compliance with procedures related to equipment, maintenance/cleaning, floor care, terminal cleaning, between case cleaning, transporting, and other related services for all clinical and support areas.
- Develops, prepares, and maintains a staffing pattern to ensure 24-hour support for transport, procedural set-up, and cleaning. Applies Infection Control principles to solve problems and troubleshoot technology/equipment.
- Assists with the operational, expense, and Capital Budget development for Perioperative Support Services. Partners with Technology and Unit management to ensure a supportive and collaborative management model for ancillary services.
- Works collaboratively with other department leaders on projects and operational activities regarding procedure set-ups, technology, supplies, transport, environment, and equipment.
- Maximizes quality controls and cost-effectiveness without compromising service and care. Ensures availability of medical equipment and coordinates replacements as indicated.
- Follows through, has excellent communication skills, meets deadlines, and delivers breakthrough service.
- Serves as the Vendor Liaison in evaluating products, negotiating contracts/acquisitions, and providing training/support of equipment/supplies.
- Evaluates, implements, and revises systems in order to make operational adjustments and improvements for the uninterrupted delivery of care.
- Oversees Perioperative to ensure it is performing effectively, which may include but not limited to, hiring and training team members, creating and implementing business strategies, managing performance of team members, and delegating tasks.
- May perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:- Education: Associate degree and relevant program completion, or equivalent relevant experience in lieu of degree
- Certification: Basic Life Support upon start
- Experience: Five years of experience in perioperative systems and processes including transport, case preparation and clean-up, supplies, equipment, and environmental standards; Two years of supervisory or management experience
Preferred Qualifications:- Previous anesthesia tech experience preferred.
- Previous Team Lead, Supervisor, or Manager experience within anesthesia preferred.
