Full Job Description
SUMMARY:

Position oversees the Banks Small Business Administration Lending (SBA) approval function. Responsible for maintaining a timely and efficient loan approval process, mitigating risk exposure and ensuring superior service to internal partners. Reviews and decisions loans within assigned authority, including assessing credit risk and establishing an appropriate grade. Monitors credit decisions made by credit officers and provides recommendations for credits with exposures that exceed assigned approval authority. Provides leadership and development to credit officers. Supports the Banks credit culture by ensuring compliance with credit policy as well as developing and facilitating credit training and onboarding for the Banks sales and underwriting teams.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

30% Oversee the Banks SBA approval function. Establish and ensure adherence to departmental service standards. Develop and maintain a timely and efficient centralized loan approval process. Mitigating risk exposure by monitoring loans to ensure appropriate underwriting, documentation and credit administration is performed.

35% Review and decision loans within assigned authority, including assessing credit risk and establishing an appropriate grade. Monitor credit decisions made by credit officers and provide recommendations for credits with exposures that exceed assigned approval authority.

15% Review and decision loans within assigned authority, including assessing credit risk and establishing an appropriate grade. Monitor credit decisions made by credit officers and provide recommendations for credits with exposures that exceed assigned approval authority. Provide leadership and development to loan officers. Set expectations and manage performance.

10% Support the Banks credit culture by ensuring compliance with credit policy as well as developing and facilitating credit training and onboarding programs for the Banks sales and underwriting teams.

10% Assist with portfolio management accountabilities, ensuring that the Banks loan portfolio is within defined risk tolerance and that loan yield targets are met.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 10 years of credit underwriting or credit risk review experience with 4 years of management experience required or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Demonstrates understanding of credit risk associated with all industries, products and borrowers.
  • Strong credit analysis skills and accounting knowledge.
  • Thorough knowledge of required legal documentation for a wide range of commercial loans and credit facilities such as lines, term loans, real estate loans, construction loans, etc.
  • Experience developing and facilitating credit training programs.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Fundamental knowledge of evaluating commercial real estate collateral.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Advanced computer skills including MS Office products and credit systems.
  • Must have proven decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong business process management skills including workflow and procedure development.
