The Manager of Regional MCN Deployments NSA Team - Network Practice Office (NPO) provides leadership, strategic direction, and technical oversight to a team of regional Network Solutions Architects (NSAs). This role acts as a key leadership liaison, collaborating on design standards and best practices alongside other regional leads, the Network Practice Office (NPO), and other North American IP Network Subject Matter Experts.

The Manager must be highly self-motivated, possess the ability to lead autonomously, drive team accountability, and ensure the regional team continuously updates their skill sets to align with evolving technologies and mission-critical standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and manage a regional team of NSAs. Establish and execute training regimens for territory-level engineers to ensure the team acquires higher-level skills in network design, mobile backhaul, and security.
  • Deployment Oversight: Oversee the design and integration of ASTRO P25 LMR networks with customer enterprise applications across the region. Ensure the successful deployment of complex, unique LAN/WAN designs using MSI and third-party vendor equipment.
  • Escalation & Troubleshooting Management: Direct and support the team in assisting post-sale engineering groups with troubleshooting complex network and mobile backhaul issues.
  • Regional Design Guidance: Ensure the team provides high-quality design guidance on customers' transport network solutions to support services for P25-LMR, LTE, Smart Public Safety, and enterprise applications. Oversee the delivery of design specifications for layer-1 and layer-2 transport media, including fiber and microwave.
  • Project Strategy & Presentation: Collaborate and assist with regional bid strategies and project deployments. Additionally, as required review and present technically compelling system designs to high-level customer stakeholders and pre/post-sale engineering leadership.
  • Operational Excellence: Ensure standard reference designs, including high-level and detailed network diagrams, are rigorously documented.
  • Security & Standards Compliance: Oversee network infrastructure audits and ensure team adherence to testing best practices so that backhaul networks meet mission-critical Public Safety standards.
  • Strategic Vendor Evaluation: Partner with other SMEs to evaluate third-party vendor equipment and make strategic recommendations on future mobile backhaul technology investments.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Consultation Leadership: Serve as the regional liaison and internal consultant, ensuring the NSA team acts as premier subject matter experts across the region.
  • Design Standards & Collaboration: Direct regional collaboration with the Network Practice Office and IP Network SMEs to define, champion, and enforce unified design standards and engineering best practices.
  • Autonomy & Skill Alignment: Foster a highly motivated, self-driven team culture, ensuring regional NSAs operate effectively with autonomy while continuously aligning their skills with evolving technology and mission-critical standards.
  • ASTRO P25 Architecture Oversight: Guide and review the team's designs for ASTRO P25 LMR networks and the integration with customer enterprise applications.
  • Complex Problem Resolution: Oversee the escalation and resolution of highly complex customer and internal problems, validating unique LAN/WAN designs that leverage both MSI and third-party vendor equipment.
  • Post-Sale Escalation Management: Manage and direct the regional team in providing tier-3 troubleshooting support to post-sale engineering and service teams for critical network and mobile backhaul issues.
  • Transport Network Design Guidance: Ensure the NSA team delivers authoritative design guidance to local engineering groups regarding transport network solutions and services for P25-LMR, LTE, Smart Public Safety, and enterprise applications.
  • Physical & Data Link Layer Specifications: Supervise the delivery of technically sound supporting design specifications for layer-1 and layer-2 transport media, including fiber and microwave.
  • Executive Presentations & Technical Advocacy: Review, refine, and occasionally deliver high-impact technical presentation materials regarding complex system designs to customers, pre-sale, and post-sale engineering leadership.
  • Bid Strategy & Deployment Alignment: Partner with Sale, Presales Engineering, Postsale Engineering, and Project Management to allocate regional NSA resources for bid strategies and project deployments.
  • Automation Drive: Champion the adoption, development, and implementation of software tools across the team to automate network design and deployment tasks, increasing engineering efficiency.
  • Reference Design Documentation Management: Enforce strict quality control over both high-level and detailed network designs, ensuring they are documented according to the NPO standards.
  • Testing Best Practices & Tool Utilization: Ensure the team effectively utilizes when required advanced test equipment (such as LAN/WAN network and protocol analyzers) and establishes strict testing best practices so that mobile backhaul networks confidently meet mission-critical Public Safety standards.
  • Security Compliance Auditing: Oversee regional compliance to ensure all deployed systems strictly adhere to NPO baseline security standards, while championing continuous initiatives to elevate and enforce network security practices.
  • Training Program Development: Oversee the creation and rollout of a structured training regimen, empowering territory-level NSAs to acquire advanced skills in network design, mobile backhaul, and security.
  • Strategic Vendor Roadmap Evaluation: Coordinate the team's participation with core NPO team to critically evaluate third-party vendor equipment and deliver strategic, future-forward recommendations on mobile backhaul technology investments.
