Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Director of Public Safety Operations and Administration, the Manager of Public Safety Business Services administers and coordinates assigned financial, administrative, and business-service functions for the Public Safety unit. The position implements established priorities and procedures; coordinates budget monitoring, procurement, payroll, travel, personnel transactions, compliance documentation, and reporting activities; directly supervises assigned administrative or financial support staff; and resolves routine operational matters within delegated authority. The incumbent prepares analyses and recommendations for the Director and elevates matters involving significant financial, policy, legal, personnel, or institutional impact.

Key Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of the principles and practices of business administration, public finance, budgeting, accounting, procurement, contract administration, and financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and administer complex financial and administrative activities within a highly regulated and compliance-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated supervisory or formal lead-work skills, including the ability to establish priorities, assign and review work, provide training and feedback, evaluate performance, and support employee development.
  • Ability to analyze financial, operational, and statistical information; identify trends, risks, and problems; evaluate alternatives; and develop sound findings and recommendations.
  • Ability to review financial transactions and supporting documentation for accuracy, completeness, appropriate funding and chartfield use, and compliance with applicable standards and procedures.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business administration, public administration, finance, accounting, management, or a related field, AND three years of progressively responsible experience in financial administration, budgeting, accounting, procurement, contract administration, or business operations.
  • Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Licenses, Certificates, Credentials
  • Possession of a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain one by the date of hire.

Salary and Benefits

The anticipated hiring range for this role is $80,000 - $100,000. Note that the offer is calculated based on the background and relevant years of experience of the individual selected.

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Anticipated Hiring Range referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Classification Range may be broader than what the University anticipates paying for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
