Full Job Description
The Manager Maintenance & Facilities is responsible for managing the planning, configuration, construction, and alteration of equipment and machinery and serves as the operations partner providing multi-site support for GENERAC's Operating Model to develop a demand driven environment. You will support the function's strategic initiative and standardized approaches and also carry the responsibility for preventative maintenance, property, plant, equipment, environment, health and safety and capital expenditure (CAPEX). This role ensures the infrastructure provides an inspiring workplace environment, delivering efficient services, and high customer service levels.
Success in this role is defined by optimizing preventative maintenance, property, plant, equipment, environment, health, safety, and capital expenditure. This will be measured by the ability to optimize growth efficiencies
Major Responsibilities
• Ensures that product equipment is operational, serviced regularly, and maintain to minimize downtime.
• Redesigns, repairs, or replaces in-process production equipment, production control hardware, and tooling in response to requests.
• Oversees installation/removal of equipment, working closely with Engineering, Production, OPEX and Supply Chain to help design facility layouts and systems that are progressive and are optimized for efficiency and cash conversion.
• Prepares annual capital budget in conjunction with Operations Team.
• Deals with outside contractors for servicing/repair of production or facility equipment, including, but not limited to, HVAC, electrical/power, landscaping, custodial, security, general contractors, and facility ownership/management companies.
• Actively participates in Continuous Improvement and 5S activities.
• Selects, coaches and develops staff. Sets clear expectations to inspire and motivate the team. Manages performance-- recognizing achievement, providing feedback and administering progressive discipline when necessary.
• Act as SAP Super User within functional area as assigned.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
Education
• Bachelors' Degree preferably Civil, Electrical, Mechanical or Safety Engineering or Building Construction) OR equivalent education and work experience;
Work Experience
• 8 years' experience working and supporting a lean manufacturing environment.
• Experience in collaborating with multiple sites and functions to drive common solutions;
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to different Generac locations depending on business needs
• Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations;
• Demonstrated project management experience
• Demonstrated experience performing under pressure with numerous interruptions and distractions;
• Ability to remain focused in a high pace environment; and work on multiple projects throughout Generac facilities
• Ability to work inside, outside, confined areas, extreme heat, extreme cold, with noise, with vibration, high places, fumes/odors, and in dirt/dust;

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
• Strong verbal and written communication competencies;
• Strong prioritization skills;
• Familiarity of safeguarding procedures and protocols;
• Familiarity with principles and practices of budget preparation and administration
• World class manufacturing (Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and 5S) experience;
• Previous experience using SAP or equivalent ERP
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee frequently is required to use hands to manipulate objects, tools or controls; and talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to walk; stoop; crouch; bend and reach above shoulders. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance, waist high, up to 10 feet away. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be working in the typical conditions of a manufacturing environment including seasonal variation in temperatures and occasional exposure to manufacturing fumes or by-products. The employee must comply with the assigned location PPE requirements including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, appropriate gloves, clothing and shields for required tasks and closed toed or safety shoes as required by facility safety policies.
