  • This position is within the Maintenance Operations Control (MOC) department.
  • The Manager MEL Program reports to the Director MOC and is responsible for administration of the various fleet deferral and tracking programs.


What you'll do

As noted above, this list is intended to reflect the current job but there may be additional essential functions (and certainly non-essential job functions) that are not referenced. Management will modify the job or require other tasks be performed whenever it is deemed appropriate to do so, observing, of course, any legal obligations including any collective bargaining obligations.
  • Coordinate with other departments in the development, approval and production of the AA Minimum Equipment List (MEL), Configuration Deviation List (CDL), Non-Essential Equipment and Furnishings (NEF) and Tracking and Control (TAC) programs and content.
  • Coordinate/prepare final deferral revisions for submittal to FAA.
  • Maintain revision status of all MEL, CDL, NEF and TAC manuals to meet the needs of AA and ensure regulatory compliance. Coordinate distribution of new manuals with all applicable departments.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to assigned Deferral Specialists as required, supporting their efforts to ensure achievement of Company objectives in safety, service excellence, operational performance and financial management.
  • Maintain and administer the AA ACARS Reported Malfunction System (ARMS) and Manufacturer-supported Aircraft Conditioning Monitoring System (ACMS) databases and interfaces.

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent related experience/training.
  • 5 years experience in commercial airline maintenance operations. This could be Line or Base maintenance and prior Maintenance Control (or combination thereof).


Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
  • Experience with AA maintenance procedures and familiar with regulatory requirements


Skills, Licenses & Certifications
  • Must possess a current FAA Airframe and Power Plant (A&P) certification.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. and use of digital technical manuals.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Must be capable of operating in a fast paced, time constrained environment.
  • Must have verbal and Interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working
  • relationships with customers and at all levels throughout the organization.
  • Effective leadership skills and problem-solving techniques.
