Full Job Description
FIGS is looking for a Senior Merchant to help shape and execute merchandising strategies across our Women's and Men's businesses. This individual will own an evolving portfolio of categories and be responsible for developing customer-led, financially sound assortments that drive growth, profitability, and brand relevance.

The ideal candidate is a well-rounded merchant with a strong instinct for product, a deep understanding of the customer, and the analytical skills to translate insights into clear business decisions. This role will partner closely with Design, Planning, Product Development, Production, Marketing, Creative, Ecommerce, Data Analytics, and Customer Experience to bring compelling assortments to market.

What You'll Do
  • Own the merchandising strategy and seasonal assortment for an assigned portfolio of categories across the Women's and Men's businesses.
  • Partner with Merchandising leadership to identify growth opportunities and translate broader business priorities into actionable category strategies.
  • Develop assortment architecture across core and seasonal products, including product mix, pricing, color, lifecycle, and SKU productivity.
  • Build data-informed assortment and unit-buy recommendations using historical performance, customer behavior, market insights, and future business opportunities.
  • Own category performance against sales, margin, inventory, and sell-through goals, proactively identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Analyze weekly, monthly, and seasonal performance and translate findings into clear actions for current and future assortments.
  • Lead seasonal hindsights and make recommendations that inform upcoming product development, investment, and assortment decisions.
  • Stay closely connected to our HCP community, using quantitative and qualitative insights to understand evolving needs and identify opportunities for innovation.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the competitive landscape, consumer trends, and broader cultural shifts while determining what is relevant and differentiated for FIGS.
  • Partner closely with Design and Product Development throughout the product creation process, balancing customer needs, brand vision, commercial opportunity, and profitability.
  • Serve as a key merchandising partner across Planning, Production, Marketing, Creative, Ecommerce, Data Analytics, and Customer Experience.
  • Influence cross-functional decisions by communicating a clear product vision supported by customer, market, and financial insights.
  • Partner with Planning to align assortment strategies, unit investments, receipt plans, and inventory actions.
  • Prepare and present product strategies, assortments, business updates, and recommendations for key milestones and leadership meetings.
  • Help improve merchandising tools, reporting, and processes to increase clarity, efficiency, and speed of decision-making.
  • Support the development of junior team members by sharing expertise, providing guidance, and reinforcing strong merchandising practices.

What You'll Bring
  • 5-8 years of progressive merchandising experience, preferably within an apparel, lifestyle, or consumer-focused brand.
  • Demonstrated experience owning a category or meaningful area of business from strategy through execution.
  • Strong product instincts and the ability to balance creativity, customer needs, brand direction, and commercial performance.
  • Experience building assortments and making investment recommendations using financial, customer, and market data.
  • Strong analytical skills and fluency in retail math, including sales, margin, sell-through, inventory productivity, and SKU performance.
  • Ability to synthesize complex information into clear insights, recommendations, and actions.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive work forward in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • A proactive, curious, and solutions-oriented mindset with a high level of ownership and accountability.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets; experience with Looker, Tableau, Shopify, or comparable reporting and ecommerce platforms is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred, or equivalent professional experience.

FIGS Compensation and Benefits

Pay Range
  • At FIGS, your base salary is one part of your total compensation package. This role's base salary range is between $115,000 and $135,000. Actual base salary is determined based on a number of factors, including but not limited to your relevant skills, qualifications, and years of experience.
