Job Title: Manager, Mechanical Engineering

The US Mechanical Engineering Manager leads the mechanical and structural engineering team, providing technical leadership and engineering support for Precision Drilling's U.S. and Middle East fleets. This role oversees rig upgrades, technology implementation, certification readiness, and engineering projects while developing talent and delivering safe, reliable, and compliant engineering solutions.

DAY IN THE LIFE:
  • Lead and develop the U.S. mechanical and structural engineering team, ensuring engineering quality, technical capability development, and succession planning.
  • Provide engineering leadership and support for fleet operations, rig upgrades, capital projects, and complex technical challenges across U.S. and Middle East operations.
  • Oversee engineering analysis, equipment design, vendor partnerships, and the evaluation and implementation of new technologies.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, certifications, regulatory requirements, and technical documentation, while maintaining Professional Engineer accountability for approvals and recertifications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver safe, reliable, and compliant engineering solutions, while supporting continuous improvement initiatives, on-call responsibilities, and travel as required.


WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:
  • B.S. in Mechanical or Petroleum Engineering (or equivalent) with Professional Engineer (PE) designation or eligibility, plus 15+ years of engineering experience in drilling, oilfield, or heavy industrial environments.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing engineering teams, developing talent, and balancing operational and project priorities.
  • Strong expertise in drilling equipment, structural systems, and applicable industry standards, including API and ASME requirements.
  • Proficiency in engineering design and analysis tools (Autodesk Inventor, ANSYS, FEA), Microsoft Office, and SharePoint, with experience delivering rig upgrade and capital projects.
  • Skilled collaborator, problem solver, and technology adopter with experience working with OEMs, supporting field operations, and leveraging emerging digital and AI-enabled engineering tools.
