Preferred Qualifications Job Summary

The Manager, Network & Telecommunications leads the teams responsible for the connectivity that keeps Kettering Health running with wired and wireless networks, voice and unified communications, distributed antenna systems (DAS), and the data circuits linking every hospital, clinic, and affiliate site. This role translates enterprise strategy into operating plans that keep clinical and business technology reliably connected, secure, and ready to scale.

The Manager sets and enforces the standards, policies, and procedures that govern network and telecom service delivery for internal IS teams and the stakeholders they serve. This includes safeguarding information assets, meeting financial and vendor-performance targets, and managing day-to-day operations against the IS Balanced Scorecard. The role carries direct accountability for infrastructure that supports clinical systems such as nurse call, real-time location systems (RTLS), and emergency communications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Service delivery & reliability. Own the end-to-end delivery of network connectivity and telecom services (LAN, WAN/SD-WAN, fiber, wireless, VoIP/UC, and DAS) across all Kettering Health facilities and affiliates, including 24/7 support coverage and disaster recovery readiness.
  • Operational accountability. Hold the network and telecom teams accountable for performance against the IS Balanced Scorecard, SLA targets, and regulatory compliance requirements, including critical clinical-communication systems.
  • Standardization & automation. Drive services toward standardized, consolidated, automated, and self-service delivery models, reducing manual effort and variability across sites.
  • Continuous improvement. Identify and lead improvement initiatives across the teams, using internal performance metrics tracked over time to find gaps before they become incidents.
  • Vendor & contract management. Manage carrier and vendor relationships (e.g., circuit providers, DAS integrators, telecom hardware/software vendors), holding them to contractual and performance commitments, and escalating formally when service issues affect patient care or operations.
  • Agile delivery. Support the adoption of Agile/Scrum practices within the network and telecom teams to improve throughput and transparency.
  • Project delivery. Define deliverables and participate directly in projects spanning network connectivity and telecom services, delivering on time and within budget.
  • Roadmap & capacity planning. Partner with architects and engineering teams to build short- and long-term plans that expand capability, modernize existing systems, and refresh equipment lifecycle keeping pace with growth in bandwidth, IoT/RTLS, and clinical mobility demands.
  • Apply the IS Management System and IS Framework consistently in executing all responsibilities of this role.
Key Performance Indicators
  • IS Balanced Scorecard measures
  • Service Management Office (SMO) metrics
  • Kettering Health Network (KHN) Key Result Areas (KRAs)
Leadership Expectations
  • Character
    • Leads with humility and a seek-first-to-understand mindset — a caring, servant leader.
    • Pursues wisdom and self-development; curious, proactive, and generous with knowledge — has the heart of a teacher.
    • Builds trust through healthy, collaborative relationships across the organization.
  • Competence
    • Champions standard processes, systems, and frameworks.
    • Delivers results through influence as well as direct authority.
    • Communicates, collaborates, and manages change effectively at every level of the organization.
    • Self-motivated to organize, prioritize, and drive multiple concurrent workstreams.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, and management experience.
  • Experience:
    • 3+ years supporting and managing the delivery of IT services.
    • 5+ years of relevant systems/management experience preferred.
    • Vendor management experience across software, hardware, construction, and implementation preferred.
    • Demonstrated operational oversight, including using data to drive decisions.
  • Certifications: ITIL v3 or higher, Agile, and/or PMP preferred.
