Full Job Description

The Manager/Senior Manager, Internal Communications will be a valued member of our highly collaborative Corporate Affairs team. We are seeking a creative communicator and storyteller with a passion for employee communications and making a difference in patients' lives. This role is responsible for developing and executing internal communications programs that inform, connect, and inspire employees while helping bring the company’s mission, culture, and business priorities to life across a growing global organization.

The ideal candidate is a strong writer, creative storyteller, and collaborative partner who enjoys building communications programs and creating engaging employee experiences. This role partners closely with colleagues across Corporate Communications, Human Resources, IT, Facilities, and other functions to deliver meaningful communications and foster an informed and connected employee community.

The position is based in South San Francisco, CA.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute internal communications strategies that support business priorities, organizational objectives, and key company milestones, in partnership with communications colleagues across the organization, including in Europe.
  • Lead efforts to evolve and scale the company’s internal communications function, establishing processes, channels, and best practices that enhance consistency, efficiency, and employee engagement across a growing global organization.
  • Create and manage content across internal communications channels, including the company intranet, internal blog, employee forum, company-wide communications, digital signage, and other employee-facing platforms.
  • Serve as owner of the company intranet, driving overall strategy, governance, user adoption and ongoing enhancements in partnership with IT and external vendors.
  • Lead the planning and execution of internal communications campaigns that promote company initiatives, reinforce corporate values and strengthen employee engagement.
  • Support executive communications, including leadership messages, internal leadership podcasts, and other employee engagement opportunities.
  • Partner with Human Resources and People teams to support employee recognition programs, onboarding, culture-building initiatives, employer brand activities, and other programs that enhance the employee experience.
  • Oversee office environmental branding across global office locations, including content development and ongoing updates for the company museum to bring the company's culture, mission, and milestones to life for employees and visitors.
  • Manage branded swag program.
  • Capture and curate photography from company events.
  • Collaborate with external agencies, vendors, and creative partners to support internal communications campaigns, events, content development and employee engagement initiatives.

Qualifications:
  • 5-7 years of experience in corporate communications, internal communications, public relations or a related field.
  • Biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry experience strongly preferred, either in-house or at an agency.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, business, marketing or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong, concise written and verbal communications skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and employee communication tools.
  • Experience developing communications and content for employees, leaders, and executive audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex business information into clear, engaging, and audience-appropriate communications.
  • Strong visual communications instincts with the ability to collaborate effectively with designers, photographers and creative agencies to develop compelling employee communications and storytelling content.
  • Experience building, improving, or evolving communications programs, channels, or processes within a growing organization.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, balancing competing priorities, and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively across functions and levels of an organization.
  • Resourceful, proactive, and adaptable, with a hands-on approach and strong sense of ownership.

Pay Range:

In the U.S., the hiring pay range for fully qualified candidates is $148,500 - $173,250 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
