Full Job Description
  • GENERAL SUMMARY
    • The Information Security Manager is responsible for the supervision of the Information Security team. The Information Security Manager is tasked with the overall management, including but not limited to, daily planning, work scheduling, coordination, and operational performance of the defined work unit(s). Retains 24-hour responsibility, but may utilize supervisory staff to operationalize activities. Reports to department leadership.
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Ensures that the Information Security team functions in accordance with organizational growth initiatives and that all systems are monitored against vulnerabilities and threats.
    • Ensures compliance and security of all organizational applications, systems, tools and networks.
    • Independently carries out assigned responsibilities, seeking guidance from the director and/or upper management given unusual or unanticipated circumstances that require deviation of policy/practice or allocation of funds to resolve.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
    • Must hold a professional certification in IT Security
  • MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
    • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience necessary to provide professional knowledge of areas of responsibility in order to direct planning and implementation, required.
    • At least seven (7) years of related experience required.
    • Prior management/leadership experience in the field of Information Security, preferred.
    • Healthcare specific experience is a plus.
    • Strong background of demonstrated experience in leading information system teams and projects, with the ability to plan, supervise and establish a professional working environment within areas of responsibility, desired.
    • In addition to managerial activities, must possess the ability to identify problems and implement solutions for operational and organizational issues.
    • Experience with security appliances, and other security technologies, to include Firewalls, IDS and IPS, VPN, security, Wi-Fi, UC (Unified Communications), and Data Center is important.
    • Demonstrates in-depth LAN/WAN support and engineering experience is desired.
    • Knowledge of Cisco routing/switching hardware, software protocols, etc.
    • Exceptional technical skills, utilizing security protocols and team building skills are required.
    • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to direct and assign work to subordinates, explain hospital and department policies and procedures and communicate effectively with other professionals.
    • Excellent organizational, written and verbal skills necessary.
    • Must be highly self-motivated and flexible while able to accept direction with the completion of tasks.
    • Ability to plan and manage multiple tasks as well as the ability to meet deadlines required.
    • Ability to travel and work weekends and/or off hours as necessary.
    • Must possess a valid Virginia driver's license and be able to meet the insurance requirements of the hospital.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS
    • Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like with exception of visits to the computer room.
